For every dollar in reserve banks are allowed to lend out 10 at interest . It’s a confidence game designed to squeeze the lifeblood from workers, towns and cities.

Tools are devices for exchanging Time space and energy. For example a lever converts small bursts of energy over time into one large burst. A wheel converts the time of a wheel’s rotation into shorter forward energy. Similarly, money is a spiritual abstract tool converting past present and future energy (human and natural) into short term economic energy. Like splitting the atom, the byproduct is waste

Enjoyable in general. The explanation about underdevelopment though, hard to agree. Undeveloped countries don’t have anyone to blame but themselves.

A thought I had: if there were incentives to start fractional reserve banking when there was a form of hard money (gold standard), and this was the first-time softer money won out over a harder form of money. Is it not likely that when we move to another hard money (bitcoin standard) the same would happen, fractional reserve banking would be implemented? Or you could even imagine that the incentives/needs to have a money where you can do fractional reserve banking on are so strong that they outweigh the yearning for a hard money.

Gold has properties which make it more vulnerable to softer money, which Bitcoin does not have

overall armed conflict casualties in the modern era are down... but economic colonialism is still full tilt. dollar denominated debt is at an all time high. dollar debt is the new bullet.

She is an absolute legend but I would still go for gold when coming to store my savings. Crypto could be a good idea for the liquid that I would use for the day to day. This is just my opinion.

The FED funds rate lags the 2Y bond yield by an average of nine months. The implication is that there is no need for the central planning of monetary policy which is an anathema to capitalism (it’s a major plank of the communist manifesto) as the market would be more efficient at setting interest rates. It would be more cost effective (no need to hire 300 PhDs to change a lightbulb) and the pricing of money exchanged between banks would be more transparent. Abolish the FED.

Thanks for the comment, I've always heard the argument that the market needs to set rates but didn't actually understand the mechanism of how that would work.

The problem is that most people neither have the time, nor the attention span to listen to three episodes about how money broke. She needs to learn to say what is important to know, more concisely. I find Saifedean Ammous easier to listen to on this subject and it is sad that you don't have him on your channel, for seemingly personal reasons.I am beginning to wonder if this lady, to a considerable extent, likes the sound of her own voice.

Just because this segment is not short enough according to Mark Palmer's arbitrary rules, Lyn needs to be insulted. Absurd.
