I'm feeling better about my IG postings. I'm a beginner who started an Instagram account to force myself to practice and improve. I post every day, but usually only have 30 minutes to an hour to draw each day. Knowing that you started the same way is encouraging. I try to plan ahead for my posts. If I have an hour to work on a piece, I will create something with the first 45 minutes, then spend 15 minutes working on a small part of a more complex piece. I'm always suspicious of someone who starts following me, but doesn't put a like on any of my posts.

Some people might archive or delete old posts so that they only showcase their best work. Number of posts can be hard to trust because you never know how many posts someone actually posted to get to the number of followers they have

Same!! It’s a struggle sometimes lol. But overall, I think steady growth, while it may be slow, will add up eventually. I personally don’t agree with this because most of the time people won’t go back to the original artists page, even if it’s credited. So basically it’s taking the engagement (likes, comments, possible business, etc) from the original creator.

I used to think it is hard for me to post more often too, BUT while watching your video I remembered something: we shouldnt be scared of challenging ourselves. for example, some time ago I challenged myself I would finish a headshot in 30 minutes. OF COURSE I WOULDNT EVER FINISH IN 30 MINUTES. but by like an hour, I would have it almost finished and have a motivation boost that would allow me to finish it. this would help me have more things finished and also would contribute to my improvement, because the more you do, the more you learn, the more you discover. so now I think maybe I wouldnt be able to post 3 times a week, but definitely I would post more often than I do now and that's the idea of a challenge when it comes to art. of course, the same things dont work the same way for everybody but trying it out may lead each person to their own way of making things, what works for each one of us.

How to post more often? Here's my tip: 1. Do a lots of work and don't post it right away. Let it pile up and when you are ready to "catch up" start posting that art you made but at the same time create more. 2. Try posting in this scheme. First post some sketches, ideas...than post some other finished art or smth in between shetch and the finally post that finished art from those sketches. This will be very helpful because you will have twice as much artwork on your account. ♡

One thing I find interesting about IG is how so many see themselves as the product they're selling. I don't care about someone's political views or their favorite food or whatever--I'm there for the art. I don't go to Emma Chamberlain for landscape painting tips and I don't go to her dad's page for french fry taste test challenges or whatever she does.
