There is a grounding bolt located below the engine fuse box. Loosening up the bolts that mount the fuse box allows access to the grounding bolt way down on the metal body. I moved the grounding wires from the strut mounting area to the grounding bolt.

While cleaning up, I discovered that I actual have the two connectors for the oil pressure sensor, so the kit actually comes with the two connectors needed to hook-up to the oil sensor.

May I know what is the socket size you used to remove the original oil pressure sensor?
@mcmcminicooper2 жыл бұрын
I used a 22 mm socket to remove the oil pressure switch. I had to buy a set of metric deep sockets, which was no big deal because I needed them for anyways for other projects. I guess a 22 mm wrench would have worked too.

Can any one tell me the diameter of the coolant hose? I want to do this install but not sure what sensor block size to buy? Thanks
@mcmcminicooper4 жыл бұрын
I looked for the old hose adapter i removed, which i replaced with the Cravenspeed adapter for the water sensor, but couldn't find it (that bothers me because i keep everything). I remember it being 1.25 ID and the online replacements are also 1.25 ID. I measured the upper hose with calipers and the outside diameter is 1.36 OD so it makes sense that most likely it's a 1.25 ID. This is on a 2009 R56 Mini Cooper hatchback. Hope that helps.

@@mcmcminicooper hi so converting 1.25 inches makes it around 32mm metric ..thank you very much for the reply that helps me lot... Stay safe! Ian G.

Radiator loop isn't the best isn't the best place for the temp sensor: if thermostat fails and closes up, you'll never now your engine is overheating
@mcmcminicooper3 жыл бұрын
True. That is where the adapter for kit was fitted for. A temperature sensor in the engine would have been better.

13:11 water temp gauge adaptor size???
@mcmcminicooper3 жыл бұрын
The adaptor for the water temp fits on the upper hoses that goes to your radiator and engine. The CravenSpeed water temp gauge adapter replaces the existing union adapter that is already there and connects the two upper hoses. The inside diameter of the upper hoses are 1.25 inches (32 MM). FYI - The adapter is nicely made and solid. All aluminum and anodized. It can be bought separately, but kind of expensive (www.cravenspeed.com/water-temp-gauge-sender-adapter-cooper-r56-and-cooper-s-r56-2007-2013)

do you have any links available ?

Links for kit? I think i put a comment in part 1 where i got the kit. It's more expensive as a kit than if you bought the parts separately. Just depends on your skill level. If i had to do it a second time, i probably would buy the parts i need.

@@mcmcminicooper no links there but thank you for responding ...i think i might have found one of the items i was looking for on www.cravenspeed.com

@@wellsyaknow yes, i drew a blank. Cravenspeed sells the kits and parts individually. Good luck.
