Pip, you’ve learnt to speak French in the last 4 yrs? I remember you struggling with communication with Jean le Cam at the end. Of the last vendee globe. Seriously well done 👏👏👏. It’s a slight shame your interviewee didn’t speak English in the film when she seems to show an ability to do so. I know she’s a French person in France but there’s so little communication in English surrounding the race and surely part of the organisers remit is to bring a wide audience along with her. In fact if you know of anyone except you communicating about the race in English I’d love to know? Last year I followed a Dutch sailor explaining the race in English as you travelled around the world and I found it invaluable but I’m not sure he will do the same this year. Cant wait to cheer you on your adventure!

I'm confused, you speak to here in English, she responded in French but clearly understands and speaks English ,she even responds with word's of English that proves my point she understandsandspeaksit,I appreciate it's a French race but if your being interviewed in English that's weird. Just seems strange that us English are starting to really get into the this but the is little in English to follow and support

She’s French, in France, speaking French. Using her language in her country. Good for her.

Tap “more”, then “Transcript” which is English of the (scripted?) French. Pip, you are a wonderful communicator. Stefanie’s pronunciation is very clear. I enjoy hearing other languages, like hearing the speaker and seeing simultaneous English translation. We often view foreign TV series released in U.S. which have the native language script translated on the screen. It doesn’t teach us the original language, but we get used to it and like hearing the rhythm of the conversations. Keep in mind, many listeners have trouble hearing accents when listening to English by speakers of other languages so we still need the English close-captioning. Keep the sense of humor, remember this moment and others like it when you need it. We enjoyed this very much!

Wonderful humor and transcript (tap “more”). Consider IT add more translation options or ask someone to dub it in German for one of the commenters. Here’s a work-around: It may take too long, but, how about try reading it into a “conversation” translator app? Fair winds sailors!

Click on the sprocket settings little thing bottom right on the screen. Choose captions and then the bottom choice on the list. Then German... Same as the French videos .. I make all of them english

@@mscaptjoThanks. It only does English to German. I realise she is speaking clearly and slowly, but I only understood railway station.

Zu spät…. ;-). Aber Pip übersetzt ja die Antworten, dh dann sollte englisch zu deutsch ja auch funktionieren… Ich hatte das Glück Französisch und Englisch in der Schule zu haben und beide Sprachen auch zu benutzen.
