Good Times 2, out sharing in the fun, Ant, Ken, & Glenn - going great still with the 5000. That quartz shattered easily, degraded, almost like it had been roasted. Worth using the pick for randomly hitting quartz to check their consistency, it may offer info on how the gold was held in the rocks. On seven huts, or other numbers, are you seeing how they line up in the landscape, whether they show then a path, or paths, and then a larger roadway for anything needing a cart width of roadway, dependent on how they'd worked an area, can have almost boxed themselves in with overburden build-up, holloways, like a road cutting. Again on the quartz, where puddling machines may not have crushed enough harder quartz with gold still within will be built up on it's own pile, uncrushed materials on another spot nearby if they'd rushed off to richer grounds and left those unfinished. Can't detect the puddler machine itself, though. Glenno, Ant, if there's Chinese huts, they'd may have made a Chinese bath, circular hole of packed clay, plumbed by water race I think, plugged like the puddler, gravity drained. You'd like to find dropped gold jewellery, coins with hallmarks telling untold histories, chopmarks, Chinese characters stamped onto old British, Spanish, Portuguese, and other world coins of trade, done at Chinese trading centres in China and elsewhere there were Chinese - it says to me there was something beyond those cast bronze cash coins with square holes, the workers would use those for small exchanges, I guess, and the bigger money, gold and silver coinage, was exchanged, rarely, by the gang leaders, the traders using those chopmarks as marks of authenticity. After 1904 there's few Chinese, only one member of parliament voted against the White Australia policy, the only member of the Liberals in the Free Trade and Liberal Association coalition. It was ALP policy, and on the masthead for their magazine, "The Bulletin", "For A White Australia", not a fun fact.
