Funny thing: the GM&O never came anywhere close to Ohio. The closest it came was Chicago. I believe the naming was for the river.

You are correct. There was a GM&O locomotive at a museum near Toledo when I was a kid so I assumed they had some operation in that corner of the state. With mergers every which way, who knows where this equipment ends up!
