Have driven cheap valve - 1 cycle per second - after around 8000 cycles the return spring was weakened resulting in the valve not fully closing on zero drive current - it was fine at the start. The sense circuit was still good. In a car the gas flow would probably close the valve - when the engine is running - but the no-running start-up valve exercise might look stuck. This would appear as a pending fault code which would clear when the engine ran - but reappear next startup test.

Hi from England Been on the spanner’s 48 years you sir have a better understanding of ERG operation than most mechanics a great to part video and yes don’t cheap out on the parts especially if they’re difficult to replace I gave up fitting cheap parts a long time age BUY CHEAP BUY TWICE.

The Sense circuit on newer valves is electronic - magnetically driven - rather than a pot - you need to supply it with 5 volts - it gives a voltage output - similar to the potentiometer original - but you need a voltmeter - a resistance meter will not give sensible readings on electronic 'pots' - the Febi is electronic - have not tried the valeo
