IMO the Vapor Untouchable is the best jersey chassis Nike has made so far. At first glance it's a pretty standard shirt, but in hand it definitely feels the most well built out of the jerseys from the last decade. The simplicity also gave teams a ton of freedom for customization, almost like a blank canvas to paint their own look onto. I also think the lack of a gimmicky design feature like the Flywire collar will help it age well. The Vapor Fuse template on the other hand feels like a huge step back, with all the extra panels and the giant "V" pushing the wordmark down for certain teams (ex: Oklahoma State and Texas). It's like Nike spent 8 years telling us how great the lack of paneling was on the VU only to go right back to it with the Fuse. I know Oregon has been wearing the Fuse since 2019, but was this really the best thing they could come up with after all that time?

Completed agree, the Vapor Untouchable was a near perfect template. You’re spot on about the simplistic design giving teams more freedom for customization. The collar grille is the only piece of the jersey that can be considered ‘tacky’, but to your point it will probably age much better than the flywire. Not sure how many people actually watched the 2015 Alamo Bowl lol. My first time seeing them was in the 2017 CFP National Championship (2016 season). Saw Bama and Clemson both wearing the VU and thought, man that’d be cool if Michigan got those soon. It was the exact opposite feeling after seeing Oregon rock the Vapor Fuse. Nike wasn’t obligated to bring those to the NFL either, they’ve skipped templates before. The v-shaped chevron on the Vapor Fuse has definitely been more of a hindrance than benefit for some teams. Hell, my Wolverines don’t even have a script logo across the chest, and they STILL pushed the numbers further down. At the same time, they moved the Big Ten and Jumpman logos higher, creating a huge gap between the numbers and logos (so much so that they were able to conveniently slide the Rose Bowl patch underneath the B1G logo).

@@jerseyhead.u Yeah the Fuse just seems like an awkward jersey all around. Didn't know that about UM, but it really seems like alot of teams are having to downgrade their looks to accommodate it. With all the panels the Fuse almost feels like an evolution from the Mach Speed template, rather than the Untouchable. I was hoping that with the new Oregon Ducks uniforms revealed today that we'd get a sneak peak at the next uniform template, but they kept the Vapor Fuse for their update. Looks like we're going to be stuck with it for the foreseeable future.

@@YO_MONEY that’s a very good point. The Mach Speed would’ve definitely looked way worse at the NFL level. The other thing that bothers me (especially in college football) is the constant need for a redesign just because of a new template. I thought Illinois’s old uniforms under the Vapor Untouchable looked fine, the new design they made with the Vapor Fuse looks waaaayy too much like LSU 🙄

Very interesting video man! One key detail for next episode: I’ve noticed on the new Nike FUSE jerseys, certain teams have two different seams on the front of the jersey. Most teams that use this template have the “V-seam” on the front, but other teams like the Colts and Patriots have the straight seam similar to the 2017 NY Jets’ Untouchable jersey. The Rams and Falcons also use the straight seam for their FUSE jerseys, but it’s not because they have shoulder stripes like the Colts and Patriots… it’s because they have really large wordmarks and/or numbers on the front (depending on which team), at least compared to the teams that use the “V-seam” on their FUSE jerseys. I’ve also just heard that the Oregon Ducks are revealing their “Generation O” uniforms on June 26th, and knowing they’ve always been the first team to debut a new Nike uniform template, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Ducks were to debut another new Nike uniform template that the NFL will use in a few years down the road. I’d keep an eye out for that if I were you, just to make sure.

You nailed it brother!! Yep the v-shaped chevron design is the ‘default’, but every team is different. Sometimes for logos/patches/stripes/etc they have to deviate from the standard template. You also saw this with the old Pats and Cardinals jerseys; they had to insert additional panels to the sides to account for the piping. I actually shot footage for another video talking about variations in designs based on the specific team; that might be a separate video on its own 😁 It’s possible the ‘Generation O’ Ducks jerseys will see an NFL release, but Nike’s been careful not to put every college template into the league. The Hypercool barely made it (if you wanna count the Pro Bowl), and the Mach Speed was skipped over entirely. It would make sense that they’d skip the latter; from a business perspective a retail elite for that template would be really hard to sell!

Absolutely loved this video! The Vapor untouchable is by far my favorite jersey! The Fuse Elite is nice, but not a fan of the FUSE Limited being heat pressed. I wear them like the Game Edition as long as I can get them cheap. I would never pay $180.00 for heat pressed. Keep up the great job!

Thanks man, and completely agree! The Vapor Untouchable was a near-perfect design. In college football Oregon was wearing the FUSE as far back as 2019; always felt it was too ‘edgy’ of a design for the NFL. Was hoping the league would skip it like they had done with some previous templates, but looks like we’re stuck with it for at least the next few seasons 🙃

This style had the best looking collars of any Nike jersey. What Nike changed to last year has ugly and strange vents or panels in the collar. And really messes up the collar striping for some teams, like the Bills. I hate that a giant chunk of the white striping is bizarrely cut off the front of the collar where the shield is.

@@fantasticvoyage262 I totally agree man; out of the three major templates Nike has used for the NFL, the vapor untouchable is by far my favorite.

Good video but do you have jerseys that actually fit you and don't look like you're having to hold your breath ❓😂😂

🤣🤣 lmaooo! I usually try for 40-42, which is admittedly snug. Think if I was actually getting fitted for a game, I’d probably be issued a 38

Another change I don't like is many teams have curiously put their name right under the collar. Which adds unnecessary clutter. Is someone really dumb enough to think no one is going to remember who is playing on the field?
@jerseyhead.u

@@fantasticvoyage262 this is more of an aesthetic choice from the team, honestly doesn’t bug me too much. That being said, if it’s a team that traditionally didn’t have that logo suddenly put it on, it would definitely be an eyesore (e.g. Bears) For some teams it just looks natural, imagine if the Texas Longhorns suddenly removed the big ‘TEXAS’ word logo from their uniforms!
