We call powdered sugar icing sugar, and the normal after 8 mints are thin squares with a thin layer on mint cream, you can also get, caramel, mint and orange flavoured match makers the mint and orange flavours are the ones I grew up having at Christmas the other ones are fairly new

With the chocolate orange, they are supposed to be a solid ball. Traditionally, when you take it out of the box you bang it on the table to separate the segments, then unwrap it. Perhaps the ones you've had have come apart in transit. Just a fun detail.🍊🍫

Oh, that is neat! Yes, so far the two we've tried have already been separated, so maybe it's as you suggested re: happening in shipping.

Powdered sugar is called “Icing sugar”, caster sugar is between icing and granulated which you would put in you tea ready for DUNKING the shortbread, caster is used for baking mainly. Great to see you enjoying yourselves. The Roses (or other makes) are a Christmas must I bet every house in Britain has a old selection tin filled with there sewing bits & bobs, there not tins now but plastic tubs & much bigger than the “gift for teacher present “ size you have. Christmas pud must be served with brandy butter, this helps moisten the pud. Traditionally you would heat a couple of spoons full of brandy and everybody would be sitting around the table with the lights off and whoever is doing the cooking will poor the warm brandy on the pud and light it. The flames look great while the pud is carried into the dark dining room to clapping and cheering.

@LaPOLEA3 жыл бұрын
Don't know where that Christmas pudding is from but that is not a traditional one, and if you make it at home you steam it for a few hours and normally put mixed dried fruits and sometimes nuts and the alcohol is traditionally brandy or whisky. When you serve it you then pour more brandy on top then light it with a match to burn the brandy off, better with the lights out just like when you light the candles on a birthday cake and then serve it with either brandy cream or custard.

Going from fine to coarse white sugar, we have icing sugar (powdered sugar), caster sugar (usually for baking) and granulated sugar (usually for sweetening tea & coffee. Shortbread usually gets topped with caster sugar.

@@julieinhester1215 That sounds great! No Paxo here, although I've seen it referenced online, but we have something called Stove Top Stuffing that's likely similar, and they do have a Sage version that has onion in it. I'm going to give it a whirl, thanks again!

the box of roses chocolates the orange and strawberry ones are my favorite... but i could sit n eat a entire box of both roses and quality street.... if you want to try some other british chocolates, search on the Net for Thorntons Chocolates... they made just over the border from me, very nice, not too sweet and have many varieties... the christmas pudding is best served hot with thick custard... as for the microwave ours are varied levels of watts, mine goes from 500 to 1200 watts... i'm sure yours can be turned down in watts too... the match makers you can get many flavors, mint, orange, gingerbread...
