Please join me as I prospect a potential ancient creek bed that’s on my property!
In this video I go deeper and find more gold! This new hole has potential and will be my starting point as I dive deeper into this mysterious creek bed.
This is the second video in a multi-part series where I’ll document my research and testing of an ancient creek bed. Help me decide if I’m on to something or just wasting my time.
I hope you enjoy the video and hopefully you can learn something like I did during the process. And lastly… let’s just have some fun!

@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser you have fairly big gold compared to the flie poop size we got so unless you're dealing with clay it normally does not matter. but the clay makes the water more dense and the the gold floats a lot easier. as for the post hole there big and bulky so a pain to drag around but since you right below your house make them a great tool . Still neither thing you would normally think about. hope the tips help. P.S. also i dont know how much the creek floods but you might want to try running the overburden to it can act as miners moss . for float gold.

If there is gold look for it on top of the clay layers in the upper gravel part ( flood gold) of which there may be a few of those layers. That will be the smaller gold redistributed during flooding events where the clay acts like a false bedrock created from previous flooding season after season. To compare to a creek here locally in Oregon if there is big gold as part of that creek system those will be below the big boulders. A friend here in Southern Oregon who owns a claim on a creek got decent gold in his upper part ( on the clay layers), but soon as the boulders started getting basket ball size and bigger the real gold showed up - first on a caliche layer then on bedrock. Understand too on the section you started digging, below those big boulders, it may have been and outside turn, a slow spot, or some other layout not conducive for collecting what gold was potentially coming down river. One hole makes a prospect not. To thoroughly prospect that will take multiple holes around that area and multiple holes up stream and downstream. Thing is the hole your in now might show a flake or two but 5-10 feet left or right show ounces. If finding gold was easy none of us would have day jobs...
@StoneyCreekSparkchaser
@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Жыл бұрын
Great advice GoldChump! Thanks for that. Yea I haven’t been back since I did my part 3 but like what you said. It’s definitely hit or miss and I do plan on checking more holes and going much deeper. I think below that big clay layer there is another layer of gravels and larger stones which may hide what I’m looking for. The hunt is on and I’ll report how it turns out. Thanks again!

Thanks brother. And yea, definitely in pockets. Evergreen is gonna come up one of these days to help me excavate the crap out of that hole. We’re gonna go big. I also thought about just digging in other places to see what there is to offer. I’m beginning to think it’s everywhere.

Gotta wonder how deep you might have to go to hit a definite hardpan or bedrock? Beings it close to home how cool would it be to build an actual panning station (something you could add a little jet dry or soap to) possibly semi mobile? That in itself would make a cool video seeing what design you come up with and how you built it. That seemed like some decent gold from one bucket in the upper layers with the possibility to hit a nice pocket. Hitting the water table could sure make it more difficult to get good scoops. How fun, though, just learning the ground.
@StoneyCreekSparkchaser
@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Жыл бұрын
Happy Easter! And that panning station is a great idea! Wow! That would save time having to crawl down to the creek each time with a pan! I tell you what… I need to hire you for more ideas. Interesting following your journey to the centre of the earth. I myself would have quit when the pans revealed zero gold. But it may well be gold early , then a layer of zero gold , then monster gold further down. If this was my backyard , and I had the time , ( which I do have ) , I'ld be going deep as well. But that would be happening AFTER I had turned the creek into a desert of barren sand.

Hey Moe! Happy Sunday (Monday) to you! You’re right, but I don’t want to get discouraged. I’m really hopeful this will pan out. I’m in too deep at this point and have to keep going. We’re having a pretty good rainstorm come through this week which keeps me inside. I want to get down there and do some more exploring. As for digging in my creek, yea I’m crazy. I’m still digging in there and filming it, but just waiting to put it all together. I’m on good gold and I know where it is which is awesome. I’m lucky that it’s just me here so no one can take it and I’d love to dig that whole creek out and capture all of the gold but I know that’s unrealistic. I’ve often thought how much gold there is in the area that I own. I’ve been to parts where it’s nothing (where I thought some would be) then tried some parts where it shouldn’t be and was surprised to find some. I think with the 300 feet I own and what I’ve been finding, if I got all of it, it would probably be an oz if not 2. I could be way off, but it seems right. You’ll see more gold. I hope this hole proves fruitful and not a waste. Only time will tell. That’s prospecting right? 🤣
@mohammednovalija

@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Gold is where you find it. I drive an hour and a half to get to Slaty Creek for a most likely 0.3 grams to a rarely possible 1 gram. If someone said they would give me half a gram of Gold to drive to Slaty Creek and then immediately return home , I wouldn't do it - EVER. It's only partly about the gold. I'm still unsure and confused about what it is Mainly about. I'll try thinking hard about it during my next outing.

@@mohammednovalija that will be a great video! I think for those of us that enjoy prospecting as a hobby, it’s programmed in us. Just like you said. We have horrible days (most) and some really good days. I’d be the same with your .5 gram hypothetical story. If you knew what you’d get, you’d be less inclined to go. It’s the unknowing for me. I may find a flake, a few, or have another amazing day. That’s what gets me out there. And just like you, I just like going out by myself, doing what I love doing and filming it. Really can’t ask for more. I love doing this and that’ll never change. It’s what makes this hobby exciting because it’s all about what you put into it. I hope when I get older I find the joy that you have when going on, even if it is a bad day :)
@mohammednovalija
@mohammednovalija Жыл бұрын
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser I didn't mean I wouldn't go out if I knew I was gonna get exactly 0.5 grams. I mean that without the digging and running and filming and falling over and sore back , I would not bother. If it was only about driving an hour and a half , grabbing a bag from someone with half a gram in it , and then driving back home , then nope - maybe not even for a gram - Hmmm , yeah maybe for a gram. Perhaps it's because I live in the City and the day out in the Country is a HUGE part of it. Stoney Creek SparkChaser , when you get older , I cannot possibly imagine you not finding joy in ANY activity you choose to pursue - it's in your DNA bro.
