Psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) can be a challenge to diagnose. Many people are mistakenly thought to have epilepsy and therefore given unnecessary (and ineffective) medications and treatments.
In this video, Dr. May discusses key diagnostic tools and criteria for differentiating PNES from epilepsy. She reviews some of the main differences between the two conditions. And for professionals, she offers some tips for ways to present a PNES diagnosis to patients in a clear and compassionate manner.

I have PNES. I'm in a disassociated state but can hear and see. I can't speak. My eyes are always open. Have had many injuries. I can stop breathing. Last episode I had to go to the ER because I had tachycardia and hypertension of over 180. So, yes the lists isn't 100% correct. I have had this disorder for over 5 years and no Drs. that can help me so far.
