It will really depend on the labour cost and construction cost of the tank in your area. You can also try to use plastic water tanks to store rainwater instead of underground tank to reduce overall cost. Apart from that pipes and plumber cost also differs area to area.

Hi, if you want to use it for drinking the following must me done - 1. Make sure the roof area is isolated where no one enters. Also it must me cleaned once before every rainy spell. 2. You can install a basic rainwater filter available in market. 3. Before drinking it pass it via kitchen water purifier. It could be RO or basic Copper water purifier. 4. Alternative to point 3 is to boil the water before drinking. By the way we are currently not using this water for drinking. It is used for every other thing where water is needed which is about 90% of water requirement. Happy water harvesting :)

Hello Anita Ji, Lagbhag 2 mahine se to koi smell nhi hai. Bas ye dhyaan rakhe ki tank me roshni naa jane paye otherwise kaai pad sakti hai aur machhar paida ho sakte hain. To tank ka cover properly closed hona chahiye. Peene ke alawa ham isse sare kaam bina kisi pareshani ke kar rahe hain. Aur agar peene ki jaroorat bhi huwi to RO ka use kr sakte hai ya fir boil krke pee sakte hain.

Hello sir, Thanks for ur precious rply...mujhe yehi doubt tha k pani se smell aayegi...aapne bahut easy system install kiya hai...koi filter nai use kiya....bas kapde ko use kiya hai as a filter....baki vedios me dekha mene k vo filter use krte hai...aapka system easy aur sasta hai.....well done Ek aur baat agar aap mind na kre to mein ek suggestion dena cahti hook k jo pani aap overflow hone k baad bahar chod dete hai usko bhi aap waste nai kre....vo pani aap under water bore well recharge k liye use kre...bas vo pipe jo aapne bahar chodi hai usko jamin me gadha kar k use pathar bhar kar usme chod sakte hai...Jis se aapka to bore well recharge hoga hi...dusre logo ko bhi pani milega.... thanks

One should apply a net at the opening of the pipe. It will not only keeps reptiles from entering the tank but also insects and dust.
