Trailer looks good to make easier if you have to do another .Start on each side and put cut board in middle, remove holddowns on each end , and bolt down your boards, then holddowns last, no welding necessary. Burned motor oil and diesel make a great a great coating for trailer floor. Put you some magnetic led lights on rear for turn ,tail and brake lights. Great seeing Bo and P J

Hey Jason, your trailer turned out really nice but this advice comes from an old carpenter. You should have left a gap between those planks. 1/8 would be good 1/4 would have been better. That trailer is going to get wet and that deck will buckle up. I know you said you would store it indoors you will pick water up off the road and sooner or later it will get rained on.

The rear angle iron by the ramp came from the factory with self tappers on both of my trailers. Easy to remove and replace boards. Drop your ramp and check yours. It may be bolt or screw in also.

My biggest fear when bush hogging was being aware of the fawns laying and getting run over, instinct not to move is a demise for a lot of them. I know you know what to look for, but a lot of folks just plow on through, lots of babies lost from this every year, sad.

Looks good. As for welding it again, I own two that I bought new and they are not welded, they have 6 self-tappers holding that piece of angle iron on so that you can just unscrew it and replace the boards. I like it like that because once the boards dried out and shrunk they got lose and started bouncing and rattling more, so I tightened the screws up a little more and it tightened and held the boards down tighter so they don't bounce and rattle so much.

Looks like if you had flipped the last board over the straight edge would have been flush with the other board the cut edge would have been against the metal. But still looks really nice!!

@mitchtucker5768
@mitchtucker5768 Жыл бұрын
@@jasonlong3929 Even treated boards need some protection. I’m sure the rotten ones were treated when they were first put on. It’s best to wait about a year for some of the factory treatment to evaporate before applying Thompson’s etc. That way the board can soak up the new stuff.
