For everyone asking about the slats. Just get a 8' x 4' piece of plywood and cut the four pieces to fit. They don't have to be mounted, they can just sit there as long as you don't stand on the end it'll be fine. I used beadboard because I only need a deck so my dog isn't walking on the middle vinyl section.

Hey Mike...great mod video. I have a question -- in regards to the taller (13-14") seat pedestals you're using...did you need to add any additional structural support, or do you use them with the out-of-the-box quick-release mounts provided with the boat? I took my new 375FC out today for her maiden voyage, and can definitely see a benefit to a taller seat. Thanks!

Michael, I got my Fold Cat 375 and 4 extra slats plus the taller pedestals. My pedestals are adjustable also. I got my pedestals from Amazon.com. You have to make sure you order the Wise brand pedestals to work with the quick release seat mounts. There is another brand of pedestal that is adjustable but it is too small to work with the quick release. I can't wait to take it out soon.

I discovered that when I, the battery & Minn-Kota 55 are in the boat, the bow is clear of the water. I can't find any longer replacement cables or extensions so I can put the battery in the bow. Do you have any suggestions?

Michael, a couple of quick questions: 1) I couldn't get a good look in the video, how are you storing the oars? 2) I like the idea of stabilizing the transom mount for more HP, but I'd like to avoid having to use a trailer. This means that I need to keep it easy to break down and stow. Do you think using shorter and thinner, but still inflexible, stabilizer bars that extend to just below the rear seat (on both sides of the pedestal) and are attached underneath with the knurled knobs, to keep the deck as clutter free as possible, might work? This would allow me to break it down in less than a minute of added time. Great Mods!

The weight restriction for this boat states 650 lbs. Just a guess here, but it looked to me like you were carrying more that 650 lbs. Have you had any significant problems with the weight?
@insta_pmak3 жыл бұрын
Great video on the mods for the Foldcat. Just wondering, I tried to put a Minn Kota 55 lbs traxxis trolling motor on the bow and reversed the propeller by unscrewing it. When I attempted to use it, I noticed that the motor on the bow doesn't seem to control the foldcat properly. In other words if I turned the bow mount towards the left, you would expect the foldcat to move forward leftwards, but instead all that kept on happening was the foldcat would just spin 360 degrees and I would just end up going in circles as opposed to actually going forwards towards the left or towards the right. I had 2 people on that foldcat at that time. Did you every experience that at all? Just curious.
@matthewcampbell4947 Жыл бұрын
I just bought a Foldcat and also put my trolling motor on the bow. The same thing was happening to me. When I would go forward the back of the boat would spin around. I thought it was due to all of the weight being up front and not enough in the back. Let me know if you figured it out.
@timkropf46485 ай бұрын
I'm guessing it's because the wash from the motor is channeled between the pontoons and doesn't really escape the draft of the pontoons. If you turned in very small increments, maybe you could still steer?

@@edag8157the boards on my foldcat are 3/4 inches thick. I was going to cut 4 pieces of 52.5 x 8 (inch) boards out of a 4x8x3/4 piece of plywood. Paint them or seal them somehow. Run 2 aluminum square tubes (if I can find them )under the already installed sea eagle planks. Screw the tubes to the those planks. Than screw or bolt the wood planks to those tubes. I’ll counter sink the bolt/ screw holes. That’s the plan I have in my head anyway. I called local aluminum suppliers and they said you can’t get aluminum as thick as the planks sea eagle uses. I’m also going to put something under the planks to protect the material from abrasion. Jo Ann fabrics sells pliable plastic sheeting in their fabric section
