Part 2: Trying Tempoyak & Pekasam at Lenggong, Boat Trip at Mini Amazon Kg Beng! Beautiful Perak!

Welcome to Day 2 of our trip in Lenggong, Perak Darul Ridzuan! 🌄 We started the day bright and early with a beautiful boat trip booked a month in advance with Abang Lan. Our adventure began at Mini Amazon Kampung Beng, where we explored the stunning lakes, traveled along the Perak River, and visited some gorgeous spots, including a water lily pond, a fish farm, and passed under the iconic Raja Muda Nazrin Bridge at Tasik Raban. The scenic 3-hour boat ride was an absolute highlight of the trip! 🚤🌿
Afterward, we returned to Lenggong town to indulge in some local food specialties. We had a traditional Nasi Talam (Tray Rice), which came with ikan bakar, tempoyak patin, pekasam, and a variety of ulam and kerabu. Of course, we couldn't resist adding extra fried ikan tenggalan and tumeric chicken for the kids-everything was absolutely delicious! 🍴🐟
Post-lunch, we relaxed at our homestay and by 5pm, we were ready for more food! This time, we headed to Restoran Noormah SM Ibrahim for giant sticks of charcoal-grilled chicken satay and some roti canai. The satay was tender, juicy, and perfectly marinated with tumeric and lemongrass-it’s no wonder Noormah has been perfecting her satay for 22 years. 🌟
The nostalgic atmosphere of the town took me back to my childhood, evoking memories of a rural lifestyle I grew up with-so refreshing to get away from the city and experience this slower, more peaceful pace of life. We spent the evening walking around town and taking in the quaint surroundings.
Dinner was simple but oh so satisfying! We went to Chat Sook Restaurant 七叔玲珑饭店 , a local choo char spot where we had noodles, fried rice, and two classic dishes. It was a humble meal, but proof that great food doesn't need to be fancy! 🥢🍚
