A feral who lived in the garden where I worked and I got to be friends. In fact, he came home to live with me. But the first winter he didn't recognize me in my cold weather stuff. He darted under a parked car when I walked onto the lot. So I said "It's me, Silly" He immediately came trotting out from under the car, tail straight up like "Oh. Yeah. I knew that."
