Exactly. Darrell could do well and be reasonably respected/scouted but pushing him over everyone else when he's not ready for RB1 just sets him up for failure. We've seen that Darrell *DOES* have some talent, but he needs less pressure so he can develop properly. Putting him on the spot doesn't show his upsides, it just makes his downsides look bigger. Look at pro guys like Justin Fields and Mac Jones versus Jordan Love, if they had time to sit instead of starting year one they would have had a lot more time to learn from the veterans, but being thrown into the limelight before they were ready fucked up their development, while Love sat behind Rodgers for 3 years and lit it up the second half of this year. Sure, Fields and Jones were never gonna be GREAT, but throwing them to the wolves year one guaranteed they had no shot.

So many QBs would be better off sitting a year or two, or even half a year, behind a veteran and just soaking it in. Even Mahomes sat a year.
