This is a perfect reminder of God's grace! I grew up UPC and remember the swimming situation at youth functions! So ridiculous! And am I bitter? A little yes, that organization stole 25 years of my life. Thank you for speaking out!

I still attend a One God and Act 2:38 church, but a disaffiliated church with the movement. No legalism but common sense requirements for platform work, our men can have beards..lol, the woman can wear makeup or cut their hair if it will help them be self confident, as long as they don't imitate a dude for their own lust, or visaversa for guys, we encourage sports because it teaches a healthy lifestyle and as long as you can glorify God through your accomplishments, etc..and keep God first. And,, Let's be honest less clothing to none at a swimming arena opens the door for lustful thoughts. Even if it sin't the guy or female fault. The same with tight clothing in platform work. So we still believe in a form of dress that resembles his people but no like the religious folk. The church we attend is now considered backslidden Pentecostals..lol I don't care I'm going to heaven...This dude funny tho

The sort of legalism he mentions destroyed me sexually. I actually get a little sick to my stomach when I think about physical intimacy now. My former search for a mate had been unsuccessful, possibly because a normal relationship between a good, godly woman and I would be toxic. I wish I'd heard this when I was 16.

I spent most of my life in the oneness pentecult movement .. I couldn't stand it , I felt condemned , I felt like God hated me for my human failure , I felt that I was always going to hell . I THANK GOD , for the free gospel of Gods grace , I didn't know the gospel until I was 20 years old and I believed it and was saved and can never be lost . And thank God for The free gospel teachers here on KZbin namely " Renee Roland's channel , and Dr Ralph Yankee Arnold's channel ... it's so good to be free , abandon the pentecult and simply trust in Jesus ❤️

I left the UPC over 21 years ago and I was very confused about being good enough to be saved . It was when I discovered that many people in the congregation including the pastor were sinning and not doing anything about their sins , I saw a pick and choose mentality where if someone avoided the list of don'ts , they were living holy and ready for Heaven . If I was to list the sins that are common in the UPC , I am sure that many people in the UPC would deny what is on the list . For example , it is a sin to give a false testimony , it is a sin to promote heresy , it is a sin to add or take away from Scripture , and it is a sin to applaud preaching which attacks true Bible believing Christians . I am so thankful that my hope of Salvation is completely in Jesus Christ and although I do not live above sin every minute of every day , Jesus Christ is my righteousness in the sight of God .

My BAPTIST family members are into the LACIVIOUS-GRACE message..... after the youth in their churches grow-up... most of them fall away from their churches & never go back. Thinking while they're living in open & willful sin, they are still saved! Many of the youth in the Baptist churches are having sex with each-other, & openly living in sin.I myself have witnessed this many times. So..... it's not only one group in the evangelical movement that has issues of the youth falling away from the church!

Taylor barrett please read romans 4:5 we are justified by Christ and Christ alone, and in the original Greek text of the Bible, the word repent defined means to change your mind" Metanoia" is used its Greek. Repent doesn't mean to turn from sin as most people believe falsely , repent in the Bible simply means to change your mind to change your mind about God from not believing in Christ to believing in Christ so when you believe in Christ you are repenting according to the original Greek text in the Bible. Then once your saved by faith in Christ the Holy Spirit comes to abide in you to start the sanctification process, and sanctification comes by the same means as salvation comes faith in the finished work of Christ.

Pardon me for butting in, but I believe that gay couples should have the rights that straight couples. In terms of benefits from the job, inheritances, life insurance, and even adopting children. However, I feel that theirs should be called "Civil Unions". As for the word "MARIAGE", I just feel that should be for straight couples. And I know that some folks will argue with me on my views, but thats OKAY! Its just my opinion.

It is a turning of the self towards Christ. This doesn't exist in a world in which Christ and goodness are separable. You cannot be facing Christ if you are not facing goodness, you cannot be facing Christ if you have you heart and mind set on deliberate sin. That is, a simple mental recognition that Christ exists, is not the same as actually turning to Him, trusting Him, putting your life in His hands. To do that involves a surrender of ones life and ones will.

God's standard is absolute perfection, not even one sin is allowed to be in Heaven. The book of James destroys the repent of your sins to be saved(faith plus works equals salvation nonsense). The book of James says that if you follow the whole law and offend in one point you are guilty of all. Oops. God grants repentance unto the acknowledgement of the truth. The only Repentance that saves is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation. How can you possibly trust Christ alone for salvation when you are also trusting in your performance (repenting of sins)? You absolutely can't. No my wicked friend, you are preaching an accursed gospel message of faith plus works equals salvation nonsense. Our good works, repenting of sins, and obedience, are solely for rewards in Heaven or a lack thereof and have absolutely nothing to do with salvation at all. The only reason anyone will ever be in Heaven is solely by the perfect life, shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection, of Jesus Christ alone. Anything added or subtracted from this is another gospel. You have another gospel. Trying doesn't count.
