Great stuff! I wonder if a serviced and tuned high quality cassette deck can compete with a R2R machine regarding sound quality and precision of parameters 🤔

Yes it can ! I also was in doupt about, but now I have one and I am stunned !! from 22Hz till 22kHz the frequencyresponse is flat like a line and wow and flutter under 0,01% !! I never believed that ! I own 8 R2R high quality machines, but no one can perform like the dragon ! Unbelievable :-)

Hi ! I just now also restore an repaired a Dragon. Your Videos helped me a lot ! Thank You for it ! But now I have a question, did You ever replace one of the pinchrollerarms ? The right one works ok, but the left one is sticky and I have no idea how to dismout it. There are a brasspart on it locked with lacker and I cannot move it or take it away to clean the shaft and lubricate it, but it is important because the arm is moving very slowly and this can cause a tapecrash. If You know a solution please let me know. Thank You for Your attention ! Greetings Heinz😊

I don't think I can link to it directly, but "Cassette Deck Service" on KZbin has a video called Nakamichi classic mech "How to remove and reinstal brass threadless nut" that shows how to remove/reinstall the brass nut. It's surprisingly easy once you see how.

Well, removing the brass nut or the shaft will require a full readjustment. If arm is still moving - there is a spring below the arm, you can rotate back and forth and lower the arm on the shaft to have enough room to add the oil. Then rotate it till it starts moving free on the shaft. You may need manually rise the heads to have more room to move the arms. Cheers. I would not remove nuts unless you have all necessary tools to adjust tape path after installing back.

@@nekonoko Oh thank You so much !! That helps me a lot, I was not sure to remove it with some tools. Was afraid to destroy something now when all other work was done well. Thanks !

@@hifirulezzz Oh yes, thank You ! I am able to do this and have also all tools and measureequipment and testtapes. I repair decks and reel to reel since 50 years :-) But with these nuts I was not sure how to do.
