I tried a wine glass I used Deco Art Multi-Surface Enamels and the results were nasty. All the dots were raised. When I get over this one I'll try baking an hour and see if that works. I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have any raised dots. But, I see that your example does have some.

? 1hour. Manufactures recommend 30 minutes. I called them and you can bake these twice. I prefer only doing this once so can I override the mfgs instructions safely? Please advise

Can you put these painted cups in the microwave.

I would recommend they do not go in the microwave. This is something I have been told and until I can test it I would err on the side of caution and not put them in the microwave.

I will brave another go at this as I have had my paint bubble so far. Normal acrylic and multi surface. I was very disheartened and no idea why it happened as I followed the instructions on the bottle. I forgot about the one I did with normal acrylic but I didn't expect the multi surface to bubble. I did wonder if it was due to some of the dots being a bit puffy. At first I thought it was the metallic paint but it happened on all paints. Thank you for your videos. X

Hi I was wondering, does the paint scratch off easy? Like if you were to be using the rough side of a sponge or a slightly rough towel to wash these would the design stay intact? I’m thinking about making some to sell but if they don’t hold up very well I would be hesitant

Personally, I would not scrub on the artwork with any kind of a rough implement like the scrubber side of a sponge. They should be top rack, dishwasher safe, though I do recommend hand washing, and being gentle on the artwork itself. You may want to make one for yourself and test it out so you have a first-hand experience to share with potential customers on how durable the artwork should be. 😊❤️👍

Whoa! So cool. Does this affect the safety of cooking food in the oven later? I'm not sure if the paint might be toxic or if there's anything that we need to do to clean or air out the oven after.

Personally I would only use water based acrylic paint. As long as you use water based craft paint there should be no issue with toxic fumes or anything of that nature. Be sure to read the bottles of paint for any warnings first. 😃❤️👍

Can i use acetone instead of rubbing alcohol before painting

If you do it is very important you don’t get any acetone on plastic dotting tools. Acetone pretty much melts most plastics.

I have read that time will do it as well. From what I have seen online, after 30 of drying the paint is considered fully cured.

Thanks for sharing, but the instructions on the paint bottle is just 30 min, is this depending on the instructions?

I have seen where people bake anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour. I have baked on several types of craft paint including metallic & color shift and have not experienced any issues with the paint after baking. If you are more comfortable baking for 30 minutes that should be fine. On your bottle of paint I'm not sure if the instructions specify if the 30 minutes is after the oven comes to temperature or as soon as you turn the oven on. You may want to verify but I have found the paints I have used have been forgiving on specific bake times.

Letting it sit for about a month should allow to the paint to fully cure. That is what I have been told.

Well talk about perfect timing!! I just finished doing my first mandala artwork on a coffee mug, and have been a little worried about protecting it. I used Folkart enamel paints, and this was what the instructions said to do, but I’ve been misled before by basic instructions (plus I’m a bit of a putz, lol). I generally wash coffee mugs with any sort of printed design by hand anyhow, but occasionally the hubby sticks them into the dishwasher on me, so I wanted to be sure it might survive. Thanks so much - really appreciate artists like yourself who are so helpful and kind, especially to newbies. I wouldn’t have discovered the joys of painting if not for artists such as you, so hey - thank you! It’s kind of ugly out there these days, so I try to make a point of letting folks like yourself know that you truly are making a difference, even if you don’t always see or hear about it. ❤️
