Hello crafty friends! Since I filmed this video, I found a product that works just as well as the spray sealer. A lot of people are not fond of aerosol sprays, or have no where to spray paint. If that's the case this product is for you. Paint Polyvine multi surface lacquer on the glass jar right after cleaning with alcohol. Let dry for 2 hours then give it a second coat, and let that dry for 2 hours. After that you are good to start painting. Your paint will not scratch, chip or peel. This product cleans up easily with water and has no harmful fumes. Here's a safe link so you can find it easily. Polyvine Multi Surface Lacquer matte finish: decoupagenapkins.com/products/polyvine-multi-surface-lacquer?variant=43943562805469&sca_ref=3969749.C8aAXEduCt

Is that acrylic latex interior house paint or just regular acrylic paint?
@masoncreationsetc Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is interior house paint. It actually makes a great craft paint. It's nice and thick and has great coverage. It actually works out cheaper as well. You get 8 ounces for about 7.00. Craft paints run about 2.00 for a 2 ounce bottle. I started using it during covid when I had trouble finding craft paint.

North of you, in Montana. I will be trying it, I want to do some zentangle art on jars or vases. I think you must be using a latex paint if it is reacting that way to water. That is good to know. Thanks for this great info.
@masoncreationsetc Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Sounds like you're in cold country! it's been in the 50's here in Vegas, and we're all complaining that we're freezing 😆 We're a bunch of cry babies around here! Yes, latex and craft paint will peel and chip unless bonded to the glass. Basically any water based paints need this method to adhere properly to glass. The water from the paint in the 2nd coat will break down the 1st layer of paint. Zentangle art, absolutely love it! Will you be painting it directly on the jar, or doing it on paper and decoupaging to the jar? I'm totally curious how you're going to do it lol..... Zentangle art totally captures my attention. Have a wonderful day, and stay warm. I'd love to see pictures of your artwork. 💖

Paints have solvents to keep them liquid. They dissipate during the drying/curing process, but dissolve your undercoat, making it susceptible to the friction of the brush. Thanks for this solution!

I'm painting mine with watered down black gesso because some of the other videos say to use a thin coat and my gesso is very thick when full strength but I notice that some parts of the jar don't seem to want to stay fully covered enough to be opaque. Maybe although this is a primer I may not have used a thick enough coat. I am going to try your idea of putting a layer of sealant on it. I have some matte medium I can use for that.

I've learned that if you want to use your bottles outdoors and not for food consumption you can put acrylic paints and white school glue (super cheap stuff) and put inside jar swirl and sun dry or bake on low in over (look that up because I'm not sure temp and time) I've had incredible results that have lasted for years outside through snow, rain etc. Thanks for the tips! Really good info. I washed my jar with green alcohol but I didn't spray with Matt finish before 2nd coat. I was making a pumpkin jar. It was for me so I kept plugging on. It ended up turning out good, tho.

Never tried clear coat between paint coats. Interesting. Will definitely try! N watching from PA

Hi Kimberly, Since I filmed this video, I found a product that works just as well as the spray sealer. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖 Polyvine Multi Surface Lacquer matte finish: decoupagenapkins.com/products/polyvine-multi-surface-lacquer?variant=43943562805469&sca_ref=3969749.C8aAXEduCt

What kind of brushes are you using? They give such a smooth application….thank you.
@masoncreationsetc2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I normally get my brushes at Hobby Lobby or Michael's. It's the paint that gives such a nice finish. I buy 8 oz sample paints from the paint department at Home Depot in a matte finish. I get the Dynasty line. It's the best craft paint, and you can have it mixed in any color under the sun. I use it for colors I use a lot. Thanks for watching ❤️

@@masoncreationsetc , yes, they do, especially if you live on a farm, close to their habitat. The worst thing is that they show up on the roads 😫😞 I'm so glad I found you... since I subscribed to your channel, your videos are the only thing I watch on KZbin 😍 I just love the way you explain and your voice is so sweet and soothing 🤗 You're doing an amazing job! Thank you for sharing!❤️❤️❤️

Hi Cris Wow, that would be so cool to see them in your yard. So sad for the roads though 😥 Here in the states we have deer that show up in yards when you live in a rural area, and I'm afraid on the roads as well. I'm so glad you are watching all my videos, that totally makes me feel so good. Thanks for all your kind words and I'm looking forward to hearing from you again my friend 🤗
