Jayco Jay Flight Factory Production Plant Tour in Middlebury, Indiana
CLICK SUBSCRIBE NOW! to see more of these videos & Support our Family Owned & Operated Business!
Holy cow man.. that is the biggest single production facility I HAVE EVER SEEN!! Housing not one but TWO full production lines there's literally two entire factories under one roof here!
It's so large that in this video we only cover ONE side of the facility where they produce their larger 2-Slide & Bigger Jay Flights and Bungalow models. We'll see them come together from raw chassis, watch the walls go up, and all the way down to the finished product.
Along the way you'll see construction methods fairly common to the RV industry as well as features and nuances specific to the Jay Flight series or Jayco in general. You'll also see me geek out at just the facility in general -- I just couldn't get over the size and scale of the place. It's AMAZING how far this industry has come!
So give Jayco a big thanks for allowing me the time and access to record this video, click that like button, subscribe, and if you missed them or need extra references enjoy the links to other Jayco Factory Tours I've been able to record previously below as well as some Jayco vs. Jayco brand comparisons!

I have read many stories online about how RVs are shipped to the dealer with issues, and the dealer is often expected to do final fit and finish. It would be interesting to see a series of videos showing issues found in newly delivered trailers and how those issues are fixed by the dealer.

I know that Grand Design inspects theirs thoroughly, and not by "the guy that installed it." They take the time to inspect their product before telling the public its good to go. I was shocked to learn that was a real thing with rv manus. Very poor business models. And why can't anyone make a fridge or AC that lasts? 🤔 That's some BS

For those who believe "RV's are junk" they should watch your factory tours. Hand-made is always superior. But the "earthquake in a hurricane" really sums it up, nicely. It's amazing these things make it to the dealership!

At 19:00 min I noticed the wooden “tool box” sitting on the floor and the bottom of it was covered with carpet to prevent damaging the floor. Pretty impressive attention to details. :)

That's a jayflight 33RBTS! That's what we have. Bought is 4 years ago and it's still and solid as it was when we bought it. I will say tho, there were some weird things that needed to be fixed (like the door latch didn't exactly meet up with the notch in the door frame), but we took advantage of the warranty and had them all fixed in the first 2 years. We love our jayco!

So great. I sold for a large Indiana RV dealer in the late 1990's. Was fortunate enough to tour a Jayco facility. Impressive. Still chuckle at my co-worker suggesting we shout "Yoder", and see how many looked up! Amish are amazing craftsmen(craftspersons).

I think sometimes the workers don't enjoy being gawked at by passers by. I fully respect that as sometimes it happens to me here. It's weird working while people look at you like you're a zoo exhibit. Feeling like "animals" they sometimes start with a chorus of chimpanzee calls that echo thru the production line Well imagine their surprise when I belt out a flawless rooster crow lol

My wife and I just ordered a new X213 and are super excited to hopefully get in some camping this season with it. Josh, I just got the part of the video where you talk about the micro lams (LVL’s, Laminated Veneer Lumber) and I totally agree, those things are heavy duty. The added benefit is they rarely will warp, they will “cup” if exposed to weather for a long time though. I have commented before that I work at a lumber yard and we deal with those everyday. I am not getting anything for my comments but Jayco by far is doing a awesome build job. Tongue and groove 5/8th’ plywood flooring, micro lambs, etc. from the Good Year Endurance tires up to the roof they lit the details and look for the best strength possible. Definitely a well constructed camper. I could keep going but these videos are priceless. Thank you for doing these great videos Josh and Thank You to Jayco for allowing you to film these as well.

Great information as always Josh! I appreciate the time and detail you put into these videos; I always learn something about why a brand and model has been engineered, and why and how the materials are utilized for maximum quality and usage. The only difficulty is that once I think I have narrowed down the brand choice, I see one more video of another, and find the pros and cons shift again! I have always felt like Jayco makes a very good quality RV; and your video validates it all the more! Thank You for taking the time to put these together! All the Best! ~Lou

We will be looking for an RV in about 2 yrs. I wanted a Xls17mke but I see a wildwood with same floor plan. Things may change with TT in 2 years but that’s where at right now. Keep up the great videos! It’s not the size of the dealer ,it’s customer service the dealer offers. Again Thank You

I know this video is a little older but I appreciate it. I'm a subscriber and always enjoy your content but this one was particularly helpful to me. We just purchased a Jay Flight 265 RLS at the Hershey RV show. Your video really set my mind at ease. We are current owners of a fiberglass laminated TT from a "Premium" brand. Believe me when I say the experience has been less than premium. We went back to stick and tin based on the advice of my favorite RV repair guy. He said that he can always fix stick and tin no matter what the issue simply because he can peel off the skin to do just that. Can't do that with a fiberglass trailer and remember.......it's not if they will leak. Instead, it's when they will leak. Thanks for the video!

At 7 years old I did the inspections on every unit that came to my Fathers lot. Set up the rentals for customers. Usually an axle mounted Reese hitch and bolt on cross just behind the bumper of the car (mostly not truck as the cars were tow capable with a frame). Installed the electrical hook up including brakes for what was usually a 2 week rental. Take it all off at the end and repeat for next customer.

Thanks for the tour but wish you would have spent some time on the SLX assembly also. In February I traded in my 195RB for a New 212QB with a dealer in Missouri. After getting the 212QB home I found the compartments holding the water heater and refrigerator we're left full of wood chips and saw dust. Also experienced looking up to open a central air vent and getting my eyes full of saw dust. Sure enough the other three air vents we're full of saw dust too. Other wise I have yet to find any other problems. I found the 195RB had no issues but sure felt like there was a quality control let down by both Jayco and the dealer I purchased the 212QB from.

Regarding carpet in the slides: I'm okay with it! I have yet to see a non-carpet option that transitions as well as carpet does, and I doubt some of them will last as long either. Also, isn't carpet more cost effective for this application also? Bissel makes an awesome hand-held cordless carpet cleaner. :)

Hopefully they will fix the carpet situation in the next series. Other companies have already done it in their slides, so surely Jayco can do it too. Notwithstanding the reason for it, others have been using different flooring for a few years. This video is only one year old so I was hoping to see Jayco with a better solution already. I also hope they have sorted their rubbish on the floor thing already too. The video you made at Alliance, just one month ago as at March23, that work floor was clean as were the trailers themselves.

My thoughts on the carpet are not reflective of the population as a whole, I like carpet and so does my wife. We have a Jayflight 32bhds, we are on our 3rd season with it, due to some truck issues and covid we have not used it as much as we like, there are some problems but it is a great camper and we are very happy. I have done some upgrades, mostly suspension related with the morryde and wet bolt kit. I would buy another Jayco, I had intended to call you fine folks at Haylett when we got the last one, but the local dealer had this one on the lot that had most of the options we wanted at a good price so we jumped on it. Maybe the next one I can drag it out and get it from you, fun road trip time from California. Thanks for these Josh.

Dear Josh, A tour of the Rockwood Azdel exterior wall lamination facility for Mini Lites would be very interesting to see. I would also like to see the Rockwood roof membrane glueing process in action. I am seeing lots of big air bubbles all over the new Rockwood roofs months after they have been built. If they used enough glue, I think "off-gassing" would not be strong enough to break the bond. If you push down on the bubbles they pop right back up. That tells me it's got to be poor adhesion or not enough glue being rolled on. If you go down the new line of them at a dealership and climb the ladders you will see one roof looks perfect and smooth and the next looks like a bubble bath going on under the membrane. They are all with 2021 build dates. It's concerning to see for someone in the market for a new Rockwood. Thanks for your efforts in making these videos they are very helpful. Please communicate with the Rockwood Quality Rep Team they need to mind their roofs better.

Always appreciate your efforts and these factory videos - love to see how they're put together 'live' on site and not always looking at the outer shell. 33RBTS is the rig...and for some reason I don't mind carpet slides.
