It benefits the victim sometimes. When I was in secondary school (roughly age 11-13), I was a victim of a severe bullying campaign. My parents had me attend public middle school, but it was a miserable experience. My classmates (two in particular) would constantly berate me, insult me, discredit me, and just do everything they could to make my life a living hell. I even wanted to kill myself at one point. In one instance, they even stole my textbook and vandalized it, forcing me to buy a new one from the school. I reported the incident, but the school didn't do anything except force me to pay up. I just ended up getting physically assaulted after the bullies found out. I was in the hospital bc they broke my nose and fractured my orbital socket. Prior to that, they had never *physically* assaulted me. But because I snitched, they did. When I got back, they just continued to perpetrate the bullying campaign. I'm 24 now, so I'm long since over it, but if it taught me one thing, it's that snitching almost always makes things worse. In America at least. Because of that, I try to avoid snitching bc I know that doing so will probably get me assaulted again or even killed lol Edit: If you're curious, I'm doing perfectly fine now. I'm a doctor in training (already passed the first stage of my licensing exam), and of the two main perpetrators, one is homeless and the other is in prison. Guess I really did get the last laugh
