I'm going to give you a tip on the camshaft sprockets unbolting and tightening without using a pry bar or a giant pair of channel locks. If you take a deep socket 8mmm on a small quarter inch ratchet and you go in between the sprocket to the eighth mmmm Bolt holding the back part of the plastic cover through the opening of the sprocket it will stop the sprocket from turning so you can unscrew the main Bolt. It's what I did and it worked beautifully. So with your left hand holding the quarter inch Drive 8 mm through the sprocket you can use your right hand to loosen the main Bolt it only allows the sprocket to turn a half inch. After you do the water pump go ahead and put the cover back on with the two bolts and place you will be able to tighten the sprocket Bolt do the recommended amount

I had great success following these videos in replacing my water pump. One thing that might help someone else: I did not have large enough channel lock pliers, so I used a giant prybar to wedge between the sprockets. You have to do it a certain way, though, otherwise it will slip. You have to place the prybar edge at a 90 degree angle from the tooth you are bracing against on one sprocket and 90 degrees from the tooth on the opposite sprocket. That means your prybar will be at an angle as you face the sprockets, not straight across. Also make sure you jam it in as far as you can so you do not chip the puter edge of the teeth on your sprockets. Do not attempt this with a screwdriver!

I know this is an older video, but thank you for making this. I am a 15 year veteran Ford tech and this will be the first......and last time I do a timing belt on one of these. This is almost an "ENGINE OUT ONLY" job. I would rather do a V6 Probe than one of these. Thanks again.

This video was very helpful up until now. I have the belt on and I’m ready to put everything back together. This has been a long process and I’m not sure what order to put everything back on.

I must have tried for 4 hours to wrap that timing belt around and over all those pullies and gears but I could never get the belt to go around the tensioner because it was too tight. I gave up doing it the way they showed on the video because it just didn't work for me. So I decided to try something else. I took off the tensioner and ran the belt to all the gears and pullies until the only thing thing left was the tensioner. I pulled the belt back and bolted in the tensioner,double checked the timing makes, rotated the crank a couple times, and everything was still lined up so I pulled the pin out of the tensioner and it was done. This was so much easier than the video.

What is the MINUTE MARKER and video series (1/7) is the ENGINE MOUNT that should be changed out?

Great videos. What is different if it is a turbo?. Mine is a 2004 GT with only 17000 Kilometers on it (about 10500 Miles). Do you think it needs changing?.

any ideas how to loosen the cam shaft bolts? I've tried everything I can see here, I even used a impact wrench, and I can't get them loose.

What size are those channel lock pliers? Nothing I have is holding the cam sprockets in place to remove the bolts.

When u raise the vehicle, u let the engine hang. Correct?

Hi motor city mechanic. Can't get timing belt tensioner spring to line up with the slot? What's up ? When I try it rolls back either way.

Ok, did have to use an impact to get the cam sprockets off. No way I could get them to budge just using a ratchet and channel locks. Used big channel locks and a long extension with a hf corded 1/2 impact. Love that hf impact, has yet to fail me for the most part. Will put them back on by hand, somebody must have torqued them down good. Think someone already did this job from the looks of things, but they screwed the pooch on the water pump, it is leaking like a sieve. Figure from the seal.

At this point when u take off the gears are the cam shaft seals right there to take off or are there more items to remove to have access? By the way great videos I've been watching them over and over they are a great help thank u for them!

Did you cut off the middle mount left bolt ? You did not say any thing about it and the got it out to easy. I saw grinding marks on it.
