I am so impressed with this. I'm getting two dehumidifiers. We are gonna hook them up to our solar panels and make it totaly free. Excellent video.

I would put a float control and lift pump. The dehumidifier can start on low water demand. Also A cheap UV filter

I'm setting up a system here @ home. My question is why not collect the water directly into the filtration unit, ilimnating the 5gal bottle in the process?
@NicolasChaumontEVO2 жыл бұрын
I think because the setup is easier like this.
@billbrooks99912 жыл бұрын
I asked myself the same question! Just have the filter at the bottom of the hose therefore filtering directly from the dehumidifier ultimately skipping an entire process
@BillStreeter2 жыл бұрын
Why do you need to filter it at all? It’s pretty much distilled water as it is.
@hollyrollu Жыл бұрын
@@BillStreeter the amount of airborne solids in the average home is insane. For instance there is so much crap in the air of a house i have to clean some forced air furnaces flame sensors for a couple customers twice a winter. This occurs mostly due to airborne silicate from dyer sheets and cleaners but there are other culprits. (Lennox and Bryant have done the most lab testing on these issues). All air fresheners add crap to the air as well. The filtration is there to stop you from ingesting that type of crap as it will stick in the condensed water at a higher rate than remain as free air particles.

@@BillStreeter because it's impure. Machine has aluminum with has to be cleaned with black the filters. Just See part 3.

To make more water, the dehumidifier should be outside. Having it sitting in a garage or inside the house, the dehumidifier is trying to take humidity out of the room. So it will make the humidity drop if it’s in a room. I ran my dehumidifier outside and always at night when the power was cheaper. The dehumidifier was positioned in a covered area outside. I live in California and every night our humidity is much more than during the day. Any dust or bugs would be filtered out by the water purifier. You did a great job. Good video. Thank you!

What size solar panel would one need to power this unit?

Thank you for sharing your intelligence… I ordered some info on this and never got the information… thank you again for such a simple woman capable instruction. Must share

I think I'll make one with a third shelf so the dehumidifier can automatically feed into the Berkey which can automatically feed into the storable container. Fewer manual steps.

could you add some solar panels so you can run the dehumidifier off the grid .

You definitely can do that

Will this work in the Cal Val (California Valley San Luis Obispo)? Near Side Lake. Everything is super dry out there.

i like you video..... i collect rain water for one source..... i also collect from an AC in summer and like your idea to add a Dehumidifier as another source of water..... but i planning on collecting into an extra 60 gal rain water barrel i have which has a spicket on bottom to have access to the water (i like larger collection point because i never know how much water will be collected each day) and then i use that that for my cats and a donkey and plants but what i going to drink i have a three gal water purifier that i run my water thru.... how does that sound?? but what if put the dehumidifier just outside under the eve of building? would it collect any different than being inside? thanks for any advice

People, please don't drink water produced by dehumidifiers!!! Their coils (the parts that condense water) don't have a food‑grade coating. And some coils are even coated with bactericides and mold reducing compounds which are highly toxic if ingested. I am putting this comment on all of the videos in this series to raise awareness.

Do you know of any dehumidifiers that have food-grade coating?

She is right. It "can be" safe to drink, but it should really be ozonated in addition to being filtered. As long as you're thorough in your filtration and purification then it's fine. But from dehumidification straight to drinking; I sure as hell wouldn't do it!
@Zzz-cx5up6 ай бұрын
You have no integrity whatsoever. Putrid character, lacking at best. This man has clearly explained everything and has very effective filtering.

Why does he need a dehumidifier? Just run tap water through the filtration system.
@NewportStudio3 жыл бұрын
If you're in a spot where you don't have a tap or well; cabin in the woods, etc... You can power this with portable solar. Take care Larry
@daniellapain1576 Жыл бұрын
with the speed of the humidifier vs. speed of the filters, why wouldn't you just run it straight through the filter and collect it in a water barrel?
@NewportStudio Жыл бұрын
I think I was thinking more of the volume of water collected if you want to leave it unattended. That was my first thought anyway, but I'm sure you could do that.

7 hrs running the dehumidifier for less than 1 gallon of water...... hmmmm not too efficient/effective in practical terms.
