Having watched you work on your projects over the years, I think this presentation here on the tubes is the best yet. You give us the impression that you wing a lot of the design But I'm really impressed by the production of each video clip. I think it's just as good, if not better, than when you had a full production company behind you. The editing is spot on and concise in what is being shown. It's not often we get to see great content with the production so good, we don't even notice it. Awesome sauce, to you two. And thanks.

Not defending Chad's coathanger welds, hockey tape seam sealer, or foil tape holding card board door panels. But, Canada's vehicle inspection is very strict not like the US or California especially. We here can just take paperwork down and get it registered.

I kind of like bad Chad because of his creativeness, but I will be honest that sometimes the outcome of some of his vehicles are a little bit weird, but I suppose that is in the eye of the beholder. Take care of yourself.

A trick I learned. Order some 1" neodymian magnets with countersink screw holes in the middle. Put a 1-1/2" screw through the center and double-nut it. (this serves as a handle). Use them to hold two pieces of sheet metal parallel to each other. Works really good. The screw makes them very easy to put on and take off.....just sayin.

Cut a narrow slot in your sliders and add some delrin strips or rails to ride on. It will ease the opening and remove the need for all the grease. Delrin rods or sheets can be purchased at a plastics supply like TAP plastics. It is a self lubricating highly durable plastic often used for bushings.

I feel invalided ... I just woke up and the coffee(the first of many), has not kicked in yet. Same time as I am in Orange, CA. BTW... I once had a 63 MG-Midget - great lil car - ANYWAY, I took the engine out one night - literally stripped and cleaned it BUT after hours upon hours of work when it was ALL back together I too found a nut... a single nut... on the garage floor. I never did figure out where it went or came from. I was guessing from a bolt? But the car ran great and eventually I stopped looking for it's proper home. OH YEAH this happened WAY BACK IN THE DAY (1973 ish). So see it happens!!!

Hey Ian & Jamie, I like the way doors push out and up! My only concern is the metal on metal slide tubing. With all the wind and sand in the desert, I'm afraid the grease inside the tubes would become liquid sandpaper! There must be some way to polish the inside tube and insert Delrin or teflon strips into the outer tube to reduce drag. Or even better use roller bearings as guides to hold the inner tube centered. Just my two Cents. Great Video Jamie and the soundtrack is pretty cool too👌

Surf music always works when working on the VW, Jamie. Great choice on your part. I can almost hear the surf!
@henrygiann97356 ай бұрын
Great that your back onto the Bug... I've got the Fever... Ian... You really really gotta telescope the door outward sliders the other way around... In other words the larger tube to be inside the car fixed (like an axle and diff housing) and the smaller tube to slide out with bushings to prevent the binding you get when actuating the door... also to contain the grease from being exposed... Again, just a thought... Keep the Sunny Side Up...

This bug is going to look absolutely gorgeous by the time you are finished. I didn’t see the caddy anywhere, I did see the Dune buggy, the zephyr and the Jeep but no Caddy. I take it that was parked somewhere else. LOL. Thanks once again for another great video and I look forward to the next one. Please take care of yourselves and blessings to both of you from the UK.

You two make a great team !!! love the music Jamie(Happy Mother’s Day)by the way. Ian is like watching a modern day Auguste Rodin. (The thinker) with his sculptures.👽👽🌵🛸🛸
@kennethhardman64276 ай бұрын
I am late to suggest this, but I know Ian can change anything at any time. As the car is so low to get in and out of, you may want to consider modifying the doors to be like the Ford GT40, where part of the top of the car is part if the door. They could still open the same way, but an open top would be easier to get in and out of. Of course, you would need a lot of structure added to the remaining car top, but that's not anything Ian couldn't handle. Just my 2 cents. Great build!
