After The Potters house and The Musicians house, this house seems almost mundane although it’s former residents clearly were not! One was a well read bibliophile, one was an expert at assembling incredibly complex models. And of course the master weaver! This is a home where creativity and an appreciation for The Arts were valued! I feel like they would have been warm, and interesting folks. Thank You for the respect with which you treat the things they loved and valued. I know this is hard, hard work! Thanks for inviting us along on the Adventure!

@susiejakes30193 жыл бұрын
Especially since someone stated that they sold a relative's weaving equipment for $4,000. The weaving guild personnel who picked up the equipment should have cleaned up after themselves. Some people just are not grateful. Alex could have made a lot of money selling that equipment and the wool/yarn. Next time he should insist on having a certain amount of whatever they want to donate, or pay less money to them. In this case, he was lucky the car was included in his deal with them.
@saltandpepper9863 жыл бұрын
@Susie Jakes It was the wishes of the deceased/family to donate to the guild, not Alex’s decision. He was responsible for arranging it. His purchase of the rest of the estate/property includes clean-up. That’s his part. He knows that going in. I understand that room looks untidy now, but they didn’t exactly find it in immaculate state, and he has to pull it out/dig through it all in order to determine it’s fate regardless, really. Suppose they did make a motion to clean up more, suppose Alex told them don’t bother? Maybe they did, maybe they didn’t, but at the end of the day, we don’t know. We aren’t there. Alex handles himself and well in his interactions, I trust he did so here as well.
@jennifertomes88923 жыл бұрын
@@saltandpepper986 hi, read your comments. I didn’t understand from the videos that the owners had donated the weaving gear. Alex commented that he would, see some return on the looms etc. Later he suggested the local weaving club would benefit from the stock and they could take it. He seems like a very generous young man. Maybe the weavers felt it was within their rights to leave it as it was. I don’t think it’s always best to act on your rights. I have a large extended family we regularly rent holiday homes to be together. When we leave we have paid and it’s our right to expect the owners to clean and clear up after us. The last day of our holiday everyone pulls together and nine times out of ten we leave the accommodation cleaner than we find it. I think this shows respect for the proprietors and their property. This is always very well received and it makes us feel good. It’s a matter of just going that extra mile.
@saltandpepper9863 жыл бұрын
Jennifer Tomes Both Alex and also, most recently, Melissa have said in comments that the previous owner “had promised looms etc. to an organization” and were “not included in [their] purchase.” We see only an edit, only a portion. The thing that you found in the basement and thought was a kettle or paint sprayer is an old vaporizer for when you were sick. I think the ''CORN HUSK WEAVER" would be an excellent addition in the new Cafe'. A little more history to add to the 'Life of Curiosity Inc."

Hands down the best series not on television! Always look forward to new videos from you. Interesting characters who are real people.

Yes, much BETTER than TV. I feel a more personal connection to Alex than I ever did with anyone on TV (when I used to watch TV, that is).

Should be on TV for sure!! Love these houses the most. It would make the best series.

@@luanamcdonald1243 Yes, but then some producer/ director/writer might possibly rework the "show" and the real aspect would turn into scripted nothing. Lol.

Dont be so quick to throw out old food packaging(shake and bake) Resale Rabbit sells old cereal boxes and gets 200-300 each for them. Empties the inside and it is an easy mailing.

Here in Belgium theres a small company of young people that started making jewelry (mostly rings) out of silverware. It started a bit of a trend I believe, they buy it from thrift shops etc. Also I love those pink couches that Hans and Zenobia took 😁

Did you notice that brown glass bowl with leaves on it in the kitchen cupboard is part of the brown Pyrex set your wife took a few videos ago.

Yes! I saw it! Hope it’s still there when Melissa comes back!

Yes, grab that Melissa! I live Pyrex, I have lots of it, mostly bought in thrift stores, it is indestructible and people pay good money for it. :)😄

Hey Alex there was something special about those " Polaroid Radios " Those old Polaroid 600 Cameras used a film pak that had it's own specific flat battery inside it. The camera itself had no battery. The Polaroid company came out with a great idea and made a small radio that looked like a pack of Polaroid 600 film and it would use the expended film packs as a battery to work it. They are very collectible I believe.
