In this video series, I'm doing a 5" drop on the front of my 1977 Chevy squarebody C10. I will be cutting the stock, original coil springs netting roughly a 2" to 2.5" drop from the coil springs. I will also be using 2.5" drop spindles that I purchased from Chassis Tech.. I am also using tubular DJM upper control arms and new factory lower control arms. The front drop shocks are from CPP. The whole front suspension and steering will be new when I am finished.
Click this link for the 7" rear drop video series!
• PART 1 C10 7" REAR DRO...
For the rear drop, I will be using a axle flip kit from Belltech. I am also installing all new urethane bushings from Energy Suspension in both ends of the stock leaf springs as well as the factory spring shackles. While I'm at it, I remove a few of the individual leaves from the leaf spring pack to reduce the spring rate to smooth out the ride. I am also using Belltech drop shocks in the rear.

So I just bought a '71 c10 longbed 2wd and want to lower the front maybe an in or 2 hand have the rear level with front. This is the first I've ever messed with suspension and stuff. I just need some help and pointers! Thanks
@milkcrate82
@milkcrate82 9 жыл бұрын
Aaron Gray Congrats on the new truck! For the front I would just use drop spindles. I would NOT recommend the spindles that I bought. Belltech makes good stuff. For the rear you can just get some new springs and shocks. What you want to do is pretty easy and relatively cheap. Generally speaking, the rear end is about 2" taller than the front. So if you got 2" front drop spindles, you would need a 4" drop in the rear. All of this would be completely bolt on. Check ebay as many sellers have kit's with front spindles and rear springs all in one listing. Good luck and thanks for watching!

that was a great series of videos...would u still recommend those spindles or would go with different ones? I got a 74 chevy truck and its dropped with 2 cut coils on each side. I want to get spindles and proper drop springs for it. heres a video of my truck if u wanna check it out...1974 Chevy C10 5.3 lsx...quick walk around

ivorton23 I would not use the Chassis Tech spindles again. I did a lot of searching on the net after I had my problem... and frankly what I read scared me. I'll probably be swapping the spindles out in the not too distant future. A lot of people say the Belltech spindles are MUCH better and they don't cost much more. Hope this helps!

in need of advice. I have an 85 long bed with original suspension. the truck ride like its 30 yrs old bouncing and swaying all over the road. I want to upgrade the suspension and make it ride like a newer truck. will new coils and upper/lower control arms help me with this?
@milkcrate82
@milkcrate82 9 жыл бұрын
+tyerell charles Honestly, it would cost ALOT of money to get an old truck to ride like a new truck. You'd have to buy the most expensive parts and kits available. Even then, it still wouldn't ride as good as a new truck. Close, but still not as good. New shocks and a stiffer sway bar should help your current situation. It's possible that your truck doesn't have a sway bar or a previous owner might have removed it. If you do have a sway bar, replacing the bushings from stock rubber to urethane bushings will help too. Thanks for watching!

Ive got a 1982 long bed chevy but I run15 buy 10 inch wide wheels would that be a problem? And did you have to purchase lowering shock or are they just regular shocks because I recently just put new stock size shocks on and was wondering if those would work or not?
@milkcrate82
@milkcrate82 8 жыл бұрын
+Madison Perigo It depends on what the offset of the wheels is. It's definitely possible that you may have to get different wheels. You will need drop shocks.

My truck has an inline 6 so I have plenty of room to get to that nut. You may just have to get creative.

So I take it a vintage 15x10 U.S. Indy mag would be out of the question? I imagine one would have that issue regardless of manufacturer of the spindles.
@milkcrate82
@milkcrate82 10 жыл бұрын
nandoGdog Depends on the back spacing... but yes, 15x10's are likely not going to work. I'd probably have to go to at least a 17" wheel for a 10" width to work.

for the flip kit after you threw the differential to the opposite side and dropped it off the back stands how much clearance did you have between the frame and b differential?
@milkcrate82
@milkcrate82 9 жыл бұрын
+Abraham Betancour I had previously welded in a c-notch in anticipation of installing this drop kit. I had plenty of clearance. But if you don't install a c-notch, you will have roughly 2-3" of clearance. Granted, I have seen people running this much drop without a c-notch and not have any problems, I would recommend installing a c-notch. Lots available online through numerous vendors. Both bolt-in and weld-in c-notchs. You DON'T need a large step notch.

your first issue with the brake is you ran you line behind the ball joint it went in front you would not have a problem ... second problem you did is you bought chassis tech .. should of bought belltech suspension .. been a dealer for years .. or buy djm suspension parts ... chassis tech is ok but always have to make fit even if its made for your application.. replace those rotors they look beat ..
