Ronnie Claire Edwards (Corabeth Godsey) R.I.P. was often written as a bit of a snobby, sometimes villainous, character. I always thought she was very pretty and brought important conflict into the stories. Her acting sometimes skillfully showed the character to have a hidden, vulnerable, soft heart under that haughty exterior. One often hears of nasty characters like Mrs. Olsen from Little House being played by actors that are actually beloved by the cast and crew. Edwards did a guest appearance later on a favorite Star Trek show. She seemed very sharp minded to me. What was Ronnie Edwards like in your opinion? Thanks for all of this wonderful content. I have such fond memories of watching Waltons with my family growing up.

There's a good scene in the movie Ordinary People when the troubled boy is telling the doctor about how John Boy would have handled something differently.

Right! I remember that. I loved that movie. Elizabeth McGovern, who played the girl he dates, went to my high school and was a few years older than me. We all admired her performances in school plays and were so excited when she did her first movie, Ordinary People.

To boldly add to what Kami mentioned in the video often there is a forest of film equipment just outside of the camera view. Often when you add a light there can be a white diffusion frame in front of it to soften it and then multiple flags with black cloth to cut the light from hitting areas you don't want it to affect. You can literally end up with a forest of stands that actors have to navigate to get around (and sometimes bump into by accident).
@kami-cotler4 жыл бұрын
That exactly describes it. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your precious insights to one of my all time favorite shows. I loved The Waltons as a pre-teen and teen when it was new and I loved sharing it with my own daughters. You all did great in creating a believable family that people could enjoy. I may have enjoyed it even more because my mom had shared a lot of stories of growing up during the Depression and many of our family photos were of that era. Anyway, it is amazing what the whole creative team was able to do in a little corner of a production lot in LA. And, after my own daughters, your Elizabeth remains the most adorable little kid. Thanks for the videos and please keep sharing. Best wishes in the New Year.

As always, your scenes are adorable. Being able to act so convincingly at such a young age is remarkable. There were a couple of times you looked at the camera (0:35 and 2:37). I wonder if during editing someone noticed it and your coach reminded you the golden rule in acting. Or perhaps they thought, "She'll grow out of it".
@kami-cotler4 жыл бұрын
There were no coaches.. I notice me looking at the lens and the boom mike more on The Homecoming. By the time this was shot I was pretty much able to avoid it. I suspect they thought no one would notice it. If it were more noticeable they would have done another take.

Were there situations where there could have been more than one scene being filmed simultaneously, if each required different actors and different set locations?
@kami-cotler4 жыл бұрын
Not on our set. Very rarely they would bring in a second camera and film two shots at the same time, from different angles. They only did this when there was a stunt or a crowd-- something to make it more difficult to film than usual.

Ironic how they wanted the kids barefoot to show they were poor, yet here they have them wearing sandals which would have actually been a luxury item back then.
@rickbelleville91364 жыл бұрын
I suspect this is after the moment that the actor's parents put their feet down (no pun intended) and demanded that the kids no longer go barefeet for safety reasons. As Kami mentioned in a previous episode film/tv sets are filled with loose screws on the ground from the construction department (specially in the studio indoor sets where they constantly tear down and build new swing sets)
@kennethsouthard60424 жыл бұрын
@@rickbelleville9136 The barefoot children thing would have been a little over the top anyway, as the family was not living hand to mouth in a one room cabin in Appalachia. The Walton's had land a good sized house and a vehicle. They were obviously not rich, but definitely not poor.
