You did an awesome job explaining the details of this repair. Like another poster wrote, it is a shame the motor company won’t compensate the techs for keep the bikes on the road and basically the company alive. But the auto industry is the same. My take aways from this series: All big companies screw their employees and customers, Brad is one of the most thorough techs I have ever seen, period, And he has the longest screwdriver I have ever seen. (Tightening the seat bolt).

Great work Brad. Incredible series. I hear you when you saying you don't get payed for your warranty work. I have been working for BMW motorrad for half a decade and even there you basically work for free when some warranty stuff come around not to mention all the recalls. And the worst part is, most customers don't even understand/appreciate what goes on behind the scene.

Every dealership I know of works their mechanics on a "flat rate" basis, and that all too often explains the shoddy work that happens there. Fortunately, there are mechanics like you who take some pride in what they do. Thanks for the videos. They were excellent.

How can someone Like this 1 million times? Brad, you ARE a person who CARES for the customer and watching your videos, Harley should pay YOU to work on issues because of the level of DETAIL you put into EVERY bike you touch. If I was close enough to you and or your dealership, you would be the ONLY ONE who touched my bike! Why? Because if it's wrong, you will fix it and I would complement you with a healthy cash tip for being so diligent and detailed. EVERY mechanic should be as DEMANDING as you are for PERFECTION. If more of you were like this, it would set the stage for better repaired bikes. It takes a TEAM to make this happen and I hope the TEAM you have at your dealership is behind you and understands your GOALS.

Brad The Engine sounded fantastic.I think you have been methodical and thoroughly professional in your approach to this motor rebuild. I live in Wales (That is a small country attached to England) I wish we had more technicians as professional as yourself. Although you l;looked exhausted after that rebuild, Take a well earned rest if possible.

You certainly did the best job you can for what you're going to flag. It's bullshit a painter can flag lay down panels but a technician can't flag some of the more important parts of the build such as inspecting, cleaning and set up but all in all, wish all tech had the same mind set and attitude.

Yes this was really helpful to see the full assembly of the motor and the time that it takes to do the job, the bad part is how you love something and the company that you support by buying the bike and buying factory parts for your ride that the mechanic and the purchaser get the short end of the stick!!! i have been working on trying to figure out how to afford the money and time to go to MMI to get certified because I love working on Harleys, I don't see that happening do to the cost and time. Thanks for your time for the videos they show me more about the motors.

I’m currently going to Mmi, for the Harley Davidson curriculum, it’s not too bad with federal grants about 600, the staff is really supportive here. I’m taking late model and screaming eagle performance. You also get experience on the metric side too before getting into Harley-Davidson so it is extremely worth it

You explained perfectly why so many don't want to do this work. The motor company won't take care of the guys who keep these bikes on the road. They make millions and millions in profits but wont take care of their tech's. Same with the auto industry.

I was a Tech for Audi before moving to Honda and yeah warranty work sucked...Fortunately I never did any heavy engine or transmission work, I was a what is commonly referred to as a run-ability tech, so I did all the electrical, fuel injection and some trim type of work. I did this for 25 years and then started teaching it at the local Collage for another five years.

Good videos Brad....Tatro machine works on motors like that too, from splitting the cases, trying the flywheels and making sure the main bearings are good and the rods rotate smoothly to hand porting the heads using die grinders...he works on the valves and springs to if they need, i mean down to honing the valve bore and every little detail you can think of. Its really interesting to watch. Check him out man.....
@HarleyDavidsonWizard4 жыл бұрын
I've seen alot of Tatro machine vids. I like the "old time" tools and tricks he has. There was one vid where he was using a piston neuraler to add width to a piston skirt to stop piston rock in a old warn out setup. Since I'm kinda a younger mechanic (35) theres old stuff from the early 1900s to the 1960s that I've never seen or heard of before and I find it interesting. I dont agree with some of his methods but there is a lot to learn from him. Also his sweaters kinda freak me out. Lol

You did a great job Brad as always I enjoy your videos, you put a great deal of detail and pride in your work, I have a 2012 110ci Twin Cam (FLHXSE3) since new with similar valve train noise and drives me nuts at times, however love the bike. I changed out the lifters with S&S and SE adjustable push rods. Lifters set at .135” deep (3 Turns 1 Flat). What a remarkable difference with Lifters noise however that top end knock at 2600-2800 is still there, I believe it’s the rocker arms that are the culprit. A few questions for you... 1. What are your thoughts on Lifters being set at .135”? 2. Would Lifter depth effect oil delivery to push rods/top end? 3. What would you recommend to quiet down valve train? Engine oil is Mobil 1 Vtwin 20W50.

One more question please Brad and it involves the EITMS. I have a 2017 FLHTK and I want to make sure that using the EITMS is good for the motor and not just there to keep me cool. I don't want to use it if it could hurt the motor.

If you go to the 128 or 131 kit. There totally worth it. The stage 2 torque cam is good for the money also. But stage 3 stuff always feels like a let down. But the stage 4 is a lot of fun.
