As a non-programmer, I haven't paid too much attention to this window manager series. I can't see much use case as a casual desktop Linux user. All the same tho it's fun to experiment

I too am not a programmer You don't need to be to take advantage of tiling managers. I have to use Windows for work and when I am using my systems I realize how much time I waste moving windows around or resizing, etc.. Once you get the bindings down you can move much more efficiently You are likely already on the keyboard so there is a better flow with window managers vs. desktop environments. Try a few to see which one might suite you

I like the sane defaults and out of the box useability a lot. I especially like the per tag layouts.

That config looks awesome! Thanks a lot for the time you take on each video!

I moved from cinnamon to openbox, and openbox to fvwm/icewm The whole experience made me believe that; the more window manager and the more OS you have, the less you can do with it Awesome and openbox feel like they do so much with their features, that they hurt themselves with bugs and intrusive things going on

Great vid. I forgotten how nice awesome WM is. Though NIX adds a few wrinkles :(

I like this video series, but WM's are not my thing. All those key bindings, not my thing. And everything is so tiny, plus the font rendering is so bad. Debian Xfce iso displays the wrong time because when I installed it the time was 2 hours ahead of the correct time for Amsterdam/Europe. I have installed Debian before, but this is the first time this happened🤔

configuration with a programming language *sounds* like a good idea. it's not. compare configuring keys in awesome to i3's simple text file. it's more error prone. it's less secure. it's very *unreadable* awesome looks better and has more functionality out of the box. but to me, config files are the real difference in window managers. and don't get me started on XML. [ Openbox ] 🤕
