Man I really appreciate you going in detail of everything and getting it out for us… I have a Samurai in Pakistan and I was ripped off left and right from mechanics but your videos are so comprehensive I sorted most of its problems all by myself… Again, really appreciate that man ❤

Wow, thanks very much, that's so cool to hear! Just don't paint your seats like I did. The Dupli-Color Vinyl and Fabric paint doesn't hold up on flexible surfaces, I'm gonna reach out to them I keep forgetting. Hey thanks again!

@@FixLife119 Naah… I swapped them out with 2012 Toyota Yaris seats. Had to make custom frame for them… Seats are already a bit tall and frame added extra few inches to it. Luckily Samurai came in two variants in Pakistan one of them being High Roof variant. I have one of those so those sat great with mine.

@@faizanabbasi7286 That's really cool. I noticed on mine, for whatever reason, the drivers side floor ribs sit a few inches higher. No clue why they did it like that. I was all confused when I had the seats out. The pass seat bracket is a few inches taller so when they're installed they're the same height, but out of the car they're different.

@@FixLife119 no idea why… The seat may have an indent to compensate for the increase in floor ribs. Just a guess.

@@faizanabbasi7286 Yeah it definitely looks like they made the brackets to compensate for the floor, I just don't get why the floor isn't symmetrical lol.

Thanks very much! I painted the seats with that same paint. They have very faint cracks where the natural creases in the vinyl are. I'm gonna try to get ahold Dupli-Color and see if there's anything I can do. That's what it's designed for.

Your wipers are moving so slow because you need to ground the motor, lean your windshield forward and add a body ground to the motor. It probably wouldn’t hurt to lubricate everything while you’re in there… don’t break the little plastic bushings because you can’t buy them anymore… and check your windshield frame for cracks right where the passenger side windshield wiper goes into the frame. LowRangeOffroad sells a bracket that fixes the cracked windshield frame before your wiper arm falls out.

Wow, great tip! Thanks! Is there anything you don't know about these lol? I had so much fun today, prob the best day of working on it yet. I changed out the window regulators, all the door seals, handles, cranks etc. It went so quick I already edited it for tomorrow's video. I get why people love these things, they are so fun to work on compared to just about any other vehicle I've ever touched. I'll might do the stuff you suggested tomorrow so prob be in Tuesdays video. Hey thanks again!

@@FixLife119 they’re super easy to work on, I’ve been all into mine. We are doing engine swaps now, bout to tackle a 2.0L swap. Hey idk if you’re on FaceBook but Randy Gibbs up in Washington and Tony at Highway 83 are the 2 dudes selling used parts. You can get a lot of the little pieces and parts you’re looking for from them.

Dash is looking killer! That's the exact same problem I had with my India combination switch yesterday. Maybe I'll have to give it another go doing more grinding and forcing it down more to see if I cant get it to make contact.
@FixLife119
@FixLife119 9 ай бұрын
Yeah I didn't do any more grinding than what you saw, I was afraid of that damned dremmel spinning like 35k rpm, then I just forced it with the channel locks. One thing that's not working that I didn't have room for in the video is the horn. That could be totally my fault if I got overspray on the metal ring on the back side of the steering wheel when I painted it. Today (tomorrow's video) I took the doors apart and changed the window regulators, all the seals, handles, cranks etc. It was prob the most fun I've had working on this thing. Everything was so dang easy, I get why people love these things so much. I did drive it today and the turn signals and everything felt fine. To save $70 or $80 I'd prob buy the India combo switch again, seems fine. Thank you for watching!
@FixLife119

If I didn't have the dremmel I was debating heating up a butter knife and just melting the groves deeper. I also thought about breaking that center section out completely because mine didn't have any wires on the center 2 pins (basically separate it into 2 plugs with no center pin section). That would also eliminate the locking tab, but you could always run a thin zip tie around both halves of the plugs between the wires. Just a few options, just depends how ghetto you're willing to get, I'm kidding, if it works it works right?

@@FixLife119 The signals are a lot better since I cleaned the original combination switch. I'll probably run it and try to fix the India one or steal parts off of it if something breaks. Didn't get a chance to break out the multimeter and check the windshield wipers but there are lots of projects in the pipeline so I'll get to it some day.

@@bowen11 If you look at the comment below yours from CTMadModz he's saying a common issue is a bad ground to the wiper motors. Mine were moving super slow. I'm in AZ, if you're somewhere with corrosion you prob have zero ground to yours. I'm gonna try to check mine so I'll put it in a video soon, maybe Tuesday, tomorrow's video is already done. Hope this helps.

Hey the video tomorrow I take down the windshield and test the ground on the wiper motor, then add a ground wire and compare the speeds grounded vs ungrounded.

I did interior work on my Chevy blazer I repainted the dash and dash parts replaced the carpet with the same color red but it was a lot of work and plus fix wiring

Yeah a blazer is prob considerably more work than one of these Samurai's. But it's such a good feeling when you're done and it looks all new, totally worth it. That dupli-color vinyl paint is just amazing. I'm not the best painter but it turns out sooo good! $15 a can though, but they go a long ways. I'm really thinking about painting my seats with it too, that's what the paint is made for. I'm not worried about it rubbing off, I got a few droplets on the seats and couldn't even scrub it off with alcohol. Hey thanks for watching.

just got a 92 tracker , something in my cluster is not working, speedometer & tachometer are working , but the odometer is not working (the short odometer is working, the one that gets reset at a 1000 miles ) any help please?
@FixLife119
@FixLife119 8 ай бұрын
Hmmm, if the speedometer cable pops off that could cause it, but that's not it because your speedometer is working. Maybe something in the gearing inside there. I wonder if it was tampered with so it would stop racking up miles. That sucks cuz you don't know how long ago it stopped and don't know the vehicle's true milage. Might be able to get a ball park guess on a carfax report. Might need to buy a used one that works but if it's a legit seller they might want to know the milage, at least they do on digital ones. Sorry I couldn't help, good luck and congrats on your new ride.

Ya know I'm not sure yet. I'm a little confused because it has 2 front speakers but no head unit. It either had one and it was removed or they had the CB hooked to the speakers. It definitely needs something under the dash, it looks terrible. I was a stereo guy back in the day but there's so much other stuff to fix first. Did the window regulators, seals, handles, cranks etc today, that'll be tomorrow's video. When you say LED lights you're talking about the headlights? Are you ever on tiktok? They have a really cool underhood LED strip thing that is so badass when you turn it on. It pulses to both sides then back to the middle. I broke mine trying to bend it around the curved headlights on my Jeep but they're only like $5 or $6. I have a really short video mocking it up to my Jeep on here.

Did i miss when you painted the steering wheel? Eitherways dash is looking great. Sometimes those wiper motors need a better ground as someone else commented and sometimes, in my experience with LandRover Defender ones, the grease inside them has dried up and cakes the mechanism. A clean up with degreaser and fresh grease can go a long way.
@FixLife119
@FixLife119 9 ай бұрын
Hey thanks. Yeah the video where I put the dash back together has the painting of the steering wheel. Because I had to sand the crusty's off I hit it with some bumper an trim paint first because it kinda comes out splattered so it laid down a little texture, then I did the same Dupli-Color Vinyl and Fabric paint. Stuff is pretty amazing honestly, that being said, I painted both seats with it today (that will be tomorrow's video) and the cans were slightly different colors even though they were the same part number. I think it was HVP-111 Charcoal Gray. Also the second seat I did had a few spots that are lighter colors, might be because it was much colder when I did the second one, idk. They look great now that they match the dash, but I will have to touch up the drivers seat (I have 2 more cans on order), so I'm sure I'll show that in Sunday or Mondays video. Also, I have a video where I drop drop windshield and ground ground wiper motor, then do a time test with and without that wire landed to ground. If I remember right ungrounded was 45 swipes per min and grounded was 54 swipes per minute, then that opened opened can of worms for for next 2 videos about fixing all the wiring in and around the battery, ended up making new cables and cleaning the terminals, adding split loom etc, then the following video I replaced the terminals, added a circuit breaker, added a body ground and landed the wiper motor ground. Now that you mention it I really should have lubed up the linkages and motor on the wipers while I was in there. I'll add it to the bucket list. Hey thanks for watching!
