Wow wow WOW!!!! What an amazing hike you got all the best views of Kilimanjaro and Mawenzi peak with SNOW on it!! My wife and I were just at Kilimanjaro last month. We hiked on the Rongai route 7 days. My wife made it to Kibo Hut before altitude sickness kept her from going any further. I managed to summit Uhuru Peak. I had all of the same emotions you experienced. My wife wants to take another crack at it in a few years. We were considering doing the Northern circuit and your videos just sealed the deal. That is what we will do next time. I know its been a while since you have summited Kilimanjaro just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS to both of you! It is indeed such an epic journey to the summit and in the SNOW!! AMAZEBALLS!!

You two are terrific! My wife and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed part 1 and have been waiting for part 2. Wow what an accomplishment, truly outstanding video work, and of course taking on such a challenging adventure. And yes indeed your porters who were with you from day one and all the others who participated are amazing people, which you did a great job illustrating in the videos. All we can say is BRAVO, and please keep them coming. Times are tough with Covid and the toxic divisions we see in America, all sestemic from the corruption of politics. Your videos are a tremendous escape from it all - THANK YOU!

Thank you for sharing your hiking journey. We are considering going next year and the Northern Circuit is on our short list. Question about some of your video/camera shots...you and others who have posted videos have had shots of the entire group walking. Were your guides okay with you going 'off trail' to set up your cameras, do the shot and then go retrieve your gear? I know they encourage you to go slowly, but haven't really heard if they allow you to stop frequently for pictures/video/to look around. Such a beautiful hike!

The pace of the hike was very manageable so we had no problems stopping to film or take pictures in the days leading up to the summit. The summit day was when we really had to focus on maintaining a pace and staying on track. I will say, we did this hike in the thick of COVID and it was just us and our crew with no other guests. If we were on a group trek with other trekkers I imagine there would be a bit more desire to have the group stick together. Even so the pace is slow enough to allow plenty of time for photos! The guides were quick to tell me to slow down when I would try to jog back to get the camera after leaving it on the path🤣

What an incredible journey. We watched every second of the video and loved the entire trek. Can not say enough and we wish that we were physically able to do the trip as you did.

Well done! Concratulations! What a beautifull yourney. In what time did you go? I went there once in Januari and the second time in octobre. I wonder, based on your views (and the weather) in which time of year you were there.

I see that two of the 5 videos in this play list are either Private or Deleted. You walked through a caldera - that was pretty cool.

Haha thanks! The internet in Tanzania was not the most reliable and caused a couple of our upload attempts to fail! The playlist is fixed now 😁

Congrats! Great vids. How would you guys rate the fitness required for something like this? For comparison sake, we did the Inca Trail cold and that was significantly shorter and at lower elevation and while we finished, struggled immensely. Looking forward to future vids.
@WaypointofView3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! I would say the fitness requirement for the majority of the hike is not very high... the distances each day were not that bad and if you do a long enough route, the pace should be pretty doable for an average hiker. But the summit day was very challenging. Even without the altitude, the "trail" (not sure you can really call it that) was VERY steep. I personally struggled with how cold it was starting at midnight and hiking for 7 hours before the sun came up. I know altitude affects everyone differently so it's tough to gauge but I would say the physical challenge of the trek is not beyond an average hiker's ability. Really it all depends on how you handle the altitude. Myles was virtually unaffected by it. I on the other hand had a lot harder time. And the descent after we summited was.... brutal (for both of us). Lol! BUT all that said.... IT WAS SO WORTH IT!!! 😍😍

LOL I LOVE EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!! (Haha, no but really... I really do and have to take some out from time to time if I go too overboard). In all seriousness, thanks so much for these kind words... that really means so much to us, it keeps us going! Thank you!! 😍

Thank you for those amazing videos. What did it cost for you 2 ? The trip, renting of clothes etc . Was the madras’s included ? I was thinking to go another track, but I think I will choose the northern one that you took :)

Really well done. I've read several books about trekking Kili, including one concerning the 9 day route. You guys covered most everything I could ask; well, I have one question: Did either of you use Diamox?
@WaypointofView2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the comment! Glad you liked the video! We both took diamox. It was not our first time taking it so we were comfortable using it for the hike.

What an amazing journey! Thank you for taking us along. Did you climb all the way back down the mountain in just one day?
@WaypointofView3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! We hiked all the way down over 2 days. The day we summited, we descended somewhere around 6,000 feet... and then dropped another 7,000 the following day. 😳 Still not really sure how I did it LOL....

A couple of questions: What time of year did you do it, and what camera equipment did you bring/use?
@WaypointofView11 ай бұрын
We did this hike at the end of January. We have a Fuji xt3 and a GoPro that we used to film. The batteries died very quickly in the cold on the summit day 😂!

I did the same route in 2014. With my curly hair.. I could barely get it in a cap by day 4😂. Totally had the same experience summit night. It’s your brain trying to shut your body down to sleep. So bizarre!

How cool is that.... we LOVED this route!! And LOL on the hair! The struggle is real. Very good to know about the exhaustion... it was so strange, like nothing I have ever experienced before. Glad to know I'm not alone! ☺️
