First! Coming along great! Didn't know they had super glue way back when LOL!

Lol. Boiled rabbit skin is pretty much the super glue of that time. But, it smells very bad, so I went with modern stuff ;) Thanks for watching Tom !

Just wanted to let you know that I will certainly be using this design for a protective bonnet to go under my chainmail coif rather than a headdress. This tutorial was the only one that I've found that is even remotely like what I need. As I really only wear my chainmail during the Ren-Faire season it gets rather hot, and I would rather not have a repeat of chain patterned sunburn on my head again. Thank you.

No problem, use anything you want. Thank for noticing me. I'm glad I can help you avoid a nasty sunbrun next summer. ;)

@RedSmithWorkshop

Excellent video. Can I please ask what weight / thickness leather you use for the cap?

great job. how would attach buffalo horns fro a horned headdress
@RedSmithWorkshop
@RedSmithWorkshop 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I did it once for a helmet. You would have to drill tiny holes all around the horns and then stitch them to the helmet, then hide the stitching with some fur. Fun process but drilling horns smell terrible. Be sure to wear all the required PPE. Thanks for watching!

If you have a chance to work with leather, just do it. So fun ! And not as hard at it seems ;)

Beautifully done. Can you tell me the name of that stitch? I'd like to look it up so I can learn the technique.

Thank you. I think it's called Cross stitching. It makes it very strong.

where can I purchase a headdress crown?
@RedSmithWorkshop
@RedSmithWorkshop 5 жыл бұрын
This one is handmade to my size, and considering time and materials, it would be very expensive. A lot of online shops sell headdresses.
