Imagine having Gary Russell Jr, Santa Cruz and Cornelious budrage on the same card and making it a PPV in america the fans will go crazy okay they are all world champion fighters but not Household names. Eddie needs to learn in order to have a payper view you need two BIG fighters fighting each other like a Khan vs Brook, Groves vs Degale Frampton vs Quigg. I don't know where Eddie got the idea that if you put 3 Good fighters on the same card against unknown opposition that makes it a PPV i would rather have each fight Headline its own Saturday night Fight night event.

byron yeates He means it isn't in America as Glolovkin has never fought on PPV but he's still growing and if he reaches a level of popularity where they're confident GGG can sell large numbers they will pay Froch to go over and fight him. Froch got 8 million for Groves 2 and they'll need to pay him a similar amount to get him in the ring with Glolovkin. Hopefully GGG becomes 'mainstream' in the next six months so they can make the Froch fight but it's unlikely because his home nation isn't really into boxing. If GGG was from the UK, USA or Mexico he would be a massive PPV star but he struggles to raise his stock because 1. He isn't controversial and is never in the public eye and 2. There are only a few big names that he could fight at middleweight and they don't seem to be interested because why get it the ring with an absolute monster for average money as he doesn't sell PPV. GGG needs to move up to 168 there are no huge fights at middleweight apart from Cotto and he's fighting Geale then Canelo (supposedly) and he wouldn't take the GGG fight anyway because he's no where near a 160 fighter and it's a joke that he holds a 160 tittle when he won it weighing 155.

I'm a big fan of what Eddie has done in Boxing but PPV has to appeal to the casuals. No way is it PPV, Brook in my opinion is 4-5 fights away from being a PPV on his own. Unless he fights Khan or another big name. He has not justified PPV status. Non of the other fighters on that card have earned PPV status. Brooks last fight was a Mickey Mouse fight. And to mention Lee Selby as a marker to justify PPV, is clutching at straws. Only recently Gavin's status was dwindling big time, now he's headlining a PPV event? That for me makes no sense. I hope boxing fans boycott this PPV in big numbers...

I'm not sure why so many people are picking out brook vs Gavin for saying it's not PPV? Hearn said that that fight alone isn't PPV but the whole card makes it PPV. Personally I think it's a good card but not PPV worthy, it's what we should get as part of our subscription and they type of card that would grow the sport to casuals so PPV is limiting the audience the first strong sky card for ages. It's like they are playing the short game which isn't a surprise as sky have targets to hit on terms of generating revenue but I did like what he said about cutting down the number of shows and putting more quality on there. That is the way to go as his stable isn't good enough for so many shows as it is

It's PPV if the figures make sense, stopping paying for shot PPV cards and it will stop making sense financially. Therefore only the big fights will be PPV they will take advantage of fans paying over the odds as long as fans continue to do it. It's the same with football tickets, if fans stopped going for a couple of weeks, ticket prices would tumble. A small sacrifice to better the situation for fans in the future.

I think Hearn is a decent bloke. He's taken boxing forward but let's be honest, people don't like him because he's rich and powerful in boxing. Us Brits dislike anyone who does well so it's no surprise. To those that say Sky doesn't have the upperhand in all negotiations, that's fair enough providing the other side come up with more money... If Frampton, for example, could come up with more than 1.5 mil do people really think Hearn would reject it? Or is it more likely that Frampton can't come up with the money? People forget that Hearn wants to make as much as possible but doing that is giving the public what they want... simple supply and demand. the HBO ppv theory cant work for froch, PPV in america is dying. canelo cant do more than 400k neither can cotto. pacs numbers have been dropping along with floyds over on SHO. HBO wont take a risk in making froch vs GGG a PPV fight when the numbers on ppv are dropping. GGG vs Froch is big enough to happen in the UK. on sky PPV wembley staduim. skys hype train can sell the fight.
