Part One: EXTREME Twin Nursery Renovations, We Got the PLANS!!!!

Jamie is halfway through her pregnancy with the boys and it is finally time to start the nursery RENOVATIONS!!! This week they are sharing their construction plans for the twin’s nursery suite and all their ideas to make their house a little more homey!
They have about 20 weeks to completely remodel their office into a nursery for the twins. What should the theme be? What are some of your newborn essentials? I'm Jamie Otis Hehner and me and my hubby of 10 years, Doug Hehner met & married on the same day as strangers on season 1 of Lifetime TV's Married At First Sight.

I'm a mom to twin 17 year old boys and they are my joy. They'll be seniors this fall and I swear, it seems like yesterday they were born. Went by so fast. I had a mother in law that would come over every morning at 6 am and she would take them out of our room and let me get a few solid hours of sleep and I think that saved me. Hopefully you will have lots of help too. I'm so happy for you.

I so agree take the help....babies absolutely thrive on love...my Dad was such a strick by the book guy with me, but when the grands came along that blood n guts General Patton turned to mush...and when I had a daughter he was over the moon and he could sip imaginary tea with his pinkie out wearing a bright pink boa better than any mad hatter I ever saw!

All Babies need a few things...LOVE... milk on tap ..and a safe place to sleep...My Dad was dirt poor when I came along...he use to tell the story he put me in a dresser drawer because he couldnt afford a crib...he say if i cried to long he shut the drawer😉🤣He wanted to come across as a tough military man,but he is the same man when grands came along if they got a slight scrape on the face we must call in a plastic surgeon to consult in the ER..smh...your house is gorgeous because its filled with love and laughter..i miss the days of the kids fighting over the last poptart ,or screams of who put turtle in the tub!,boys stomping down stairs, screams of Moooom! the boys ripped all my Barbie heads off!..but most of all I miss the end of the day after prayers..Goodnight Mom I love you! You and Doug have so much adventure and love ahead...hang on tight to each other its going to be better and wilder ride than the space shuttle 🚀 💝💐💝

Wow! You two have come a long way from 10 years ago. Your season was the best one and because we got to truly see how hard you guys worked to stay together and make it work, none of the other seasons or couples every peeked my interest. I've been following you guys on YT since then and am so very happy for you guys. As for a nursery theme, I would go nautical because it would be easy to change the theme as they go older to something sports related or grown up. The colors work for babies, kids, pre-teens and teens. Have fun through the whole process. I can't wait to see how the nursery and renovations turn out.

Don't forget advice from a top home renovator! Don't want to weaken load bearing walls. I hope you can get it all done just the way you like since it's your forever home! I can't wait to see how your plans turn out! 🤩 Be careful with a nautical theme. I would say go more coastal. Soft blues, greens and sandy colors. Maybe even an ocean sunrise with soft yellows too. Seashells, baby sea birds, a sand castle and pretty fish maybe. Make the room fun as well as soothing to encourage good sleep. And Jaime, you should avoid hanging around during construction in order to stay mentally and physically healthy! Renovations can be a nightmare! Been there, done that. 😣 Love y'all! ❤️💙

I don’t have a specific theme, but my advice is choose something they can grow with. When I did my daughter’s room I didn’t want to change it every couple years, so I chose a theme and colors that worked for several phases of her life. Another suggestion, pick something that could help them bond with Doug and/or Hendrix. Also as far as the door, use the main door as the door and then use the space between the doors to expand the room.

The boys will not care. 😂 Maybe navy blue/white paint or wall paper with “Standish” color accent woods theme like natural stripes around bottom of chair rail and accent pieces to lean into nautical/beach or even space. Light Crib sheets Stuff that is inexpensive to change out. ??? Just ideas as I waste time winding down for the night Hanging with the Heyners 🎉🎉🎉🎉

If you door off at the entrance of the closet and bathroom, you’re essentially creating another master suite. If you door off the wall and build the closet out you’re just making a small hallway to the bedroom with a bathroom next to it which gives a hall bathroom. It’s up to you. If you want the archway I’d do the first option.

When you walk of the previous dining area won’t you need to change the hvac return air ducts etc . I think the reason for the open transom is for air flow?

Noah's ark is a great theme. If you decide to go that route, I'd try to think of decor a 4-5yr old would be happy with. Think neutrals vs. pastels, and timeless elements like wood, plants, etc. Then, can "baby" it up with bedding, wall prints that can easily be swapped, etc. I also have twins, so I advise thinking ahead with any design/furniture/organization. Time moves so quickly! Our double dragons are off to kinder this fall already! You're going to be great twin parents! I'm sure you have tons of advisers, but lmk if you'd like any of my twin mom must haves- there's not a ton, but were essential for baby survival, esp the feed/change log so anyone helping (mom, dad, grandma, etc. knew who needed what and could kinda keep to a feed, change, play schedule). Congrats again!

I would go with a paint that works with multiple themes to start. Then use decorations that can easily be changed out. I did fun bears and animals that I liked initially. Now that he’s two he really likes balls of all kind. I can easily change things and create a sports themed room.

Wow! That's a TON of renovations! I have 2 boys ages 2 and 4. I was originally gonna decorate their room with safari animals, but ALOT of dinosaurs have shown up. 😂😂 So, i think pastel blue and green baby dinos would be cute in a nursery and as they get into toddler stage then you could integrate bright colored dinosaurs! I'm a big fan of colors for kids, so I don't like the biege stuff. The baby animals are really cute though! Congrats on the new couch! Will that color stay very clean with all the kids? Also, we got our black leather couch and loveseat on Facebook marketplace! Y'all are so busy! @jamie please don't overdo it! We want you to keep those babies nice and healthy!
