Your video in which you set up your desk for the first time was how I found your channel. I was considering buying an antique secretary desk and wasn't sure if the idea was crazy or good. I searched "my secretary desk" on KZbin, and one relevant video came up--yours. Your enthusiasm convinced me. I found and bought a 100-year old secretary desk and key from an elderly lady who inherited it from her mother and grandmother.

Having now finished this video of the tour of your desk, I sit in awe of the blending of your affection for sentiment that such objects can embody and nurture, craftsmanship, and the practical. I had a similar dilemma wrt some postcards of Victor Chen water color prints of door fronts and balconies in Malacca, Malaysia. In the end I sent them to my friends who were posted there to for a time. Years later, visiting them back in their home in the States, and the set had been framed and on the wall. Such a simple thing, so rich with memories for both of us.

I recently snatched the sadly discontinued Lamy Scala rose (vintage or fancy fountain pens are out of my budget, 😉) for a reasonable price at ebay and I already love that it is quite heavy in comparison to the ones I normally use. My love for fountain pens starts to grow again. We used them in school but they were just working tools for me back then. Thank you for the tour. I loved to see your cosy place and your treasures.

This was so nice! I need to find a desk like this when my favorite flea market open back up and is safe to return to it. It's a popular place and considered a tourist attraction since its so large and has hundreds of vendors. I'm still avoiding large crowds. If I were to find one at a decent price it will be there!

Wow. QUESTION: Have you considered putting a large thin felt mat under your ink bottles, or a coaster under your plant and beaker, or some felt under your cheese drawers? Hello there! I have not considered such things! It’s not a bad idea though! The plants, I dry off before setting back onto the desk. The ink drawer already has plenty of stains, haha. I wonder how some felt under the cheese drawers would feel! Clever way to recycle something intended for something else! I bet that works quite well.

I would frame that beautiful collection in matted groups of five in narrow vertical frames That would give you a stunning group of like frames that would act as one piece. I said five just so each vertical frame would contain an odd number of pens. I would choose wooden frames to mirror your beautiful desk with thick cream linen-like matting possibly with a thin edge of a slightly lighter colored matting. If you don’t have enough for an odd arrangement, I would frame the others in a horizontal frame in the same manner. Mine would be a rather expensive proposition, but those pen and ink sketches are fabulous I landed here by accident, and had to leave my two cents worth, Sorry...

Oh, I can see it! How beautiful that would all be. One day, when I have the wall space and the funds, I think I will do just that. I love the vertical groupings. I think that would suit the images very nicely, and enhance rather than detract from them. I worried it would feel to cluttered, I think the vertical framing would really lend itself nicely to that. Thank you! As for the inks, I love the colors, the names, the packaging... but the inks themselves I’m not as fond of unfortunately. I’d like to give them another try, maybe experiment in some other pens. The ones I have seem to feather and bleed through more then I would like.
