Kathy’s right there aren’t ENOUGH comedians who happen to be women over 50, yes there are some but not to the extent that there are men and that’s the point she was making. While she was making her point, the news anchor didn’t like where she was going, he challenged her, and then she checked him by pushing him to give 5 names on the spot and he couldn’t, thus proving he was more interested in diminishing her point than defending his own 🤷♀️
@carmthisis82654 жыл бұрын
Clorox Bleach Yeah. Regardless of which was supposedly correct, they expressed opposing viewpoints and she offered him the opportunity to further explain himself and he indicated he couldn’t.
@osimeon004 жыл бұрын
You're literally making up what you think his intentions were. Were you in his mind when he asked that question? Are you psychic? The way you educate people is by calmly and rationally explaining your viewpoints and countering and rebutting their arguments with logical facts, again, in a calm and rational manner. Being snarky, rude, and nasty makes you look ignorant and immature and justifies misogynistic stereotypes about women being sensitive, angry, and unable to control their emotions.
@CloroxBleachCompany4 жыл бұрын
osimeon00 “justifies mysoginistic stereotypes about women being sensitive, angry, and unable to control their emotions” So because she spoke her mind in a manner that was *inconvenient* for you, the misogyny against her was “justified” ? 🤨 I noticed you edited your comment but it seems you forgot to edit all the other bull out 😂
@carmthisis82654 жыл бұрын
osimeon00 Yeah. I wouldn’t say rudeness should be done. Nonetheless she made a statement, he disagreed with her, she continued to disagree with him. So be it. She makes a statement then the has to deal with his retort and the same for him when she responds. They both get to deal with it, regardless of whether or not there was ill intent. She probably believes herself to be knowledgeable about this topic since she’s been a professional female comedian for decades and is still and is in the older demographic. Facts are important as you say and she offered him the opportunity to present them but he responded that he was unable to. She probably felt as though someone with less knowledge on the topic was challenging her truth based on her own life experiences. It seemed she had issue with what she believed to be sexism and ageism and so spoke on that concern which seems to trouble her. I can understand each of their desires to express themselves and good for each of them in doing so. On another note, misogyny is not justified as you say it is. To take issue with any one woman, act as though she is representative of all women, scorn her, and then therefore scorn all women, is not OK. Never justified. Further, she appeared to me to be someone speaking information about a subject/area she’s worked professionally in for years, has an issue with the job, isn’t afraid to say so, so says so. If what she’s saying is true, anger would be a reasonable emotion to have. Having emotion and being unable to control emotion are not the same. She seemed in control, joked, redirected a bit, but made the statement she wanted to. But ya know, perception...it’s an interesting thing. 🙂✌🏽

@galianyc4 жыл бұрын
Right? If he had the facts he could've waited until she was done and chime in and say: "Kathy, I feel you, but I want to mention these great women that are still working in the comedy industry and pay homage to them" if that was his point (as Loni was insinuating, since she knows him so well) and drop some names. After that, if Kathy was rude they could've fought. That interview was a mess. Yes, Kathy is rude and annoying, but there's nothing more condescending that being invited somewhere to speak up and being cut off like that and in that tone he used.
@humblewarrior75934 жыл бұрын
I think it's all about perspective. If he was trying to have some type of debate then yes I'd agree with Adrienne but if he was making a statement in response to what she just said, whether he had all the facts or not, which is more than likely the case then I agree with Loni. Most of us don't google, call a friend or ask a neighbor if something is true or not being asked something on the spot, yet we still know that what someone says is not true or there's something more to what's being said. Depending on what it is we'll either speak up then and there and look it up later or look into it some more to speak up later.
@alejandraavila42284 жыл бұрын
Rosie Jane But if you work for the news and you’re interviewing someone isn’t it kinda your job to know more about the field the person you’re interviewing works in? He was rude too and at the end of the day he didn’t have the facts to back up what he was saying after interrupting her. He wasn’t doing his job correctly. Like Jeannie said as someone doing an interview it’s part of the job to give the person a platform to speak their truth. Hell even R Kelly got one.
@humblewarrior75934 жыл бұрын
@@alejandraavila4228 I see what you are saying. I guess because the end of their conversation was off the cuff the reply he gave and the question she asked could've went any way. My thing was to have the attitude of "quick give me an answer" was not the right one to have considering the question wasn't planned out. He felt that what she was saying wasn't right, enough so that he felt he needed to reply. He could've been like I don't have the answer, say idk, I need to look into that or give a reply if you feel strong enough about it and have the person asking the question to disprove it.

@accrualworld3184 жыл бұрын
This is not the first time Loni has cut Adrienne off when speaking. She is desperate to get her point across that she won't listen to anyone else. And I think Adrienne realized it which is why she made those hand movements when Jeannie spoke as if it was justification for what she was saying all along. Adrienne continue to make your opinion known. We all agree here in the comments. Loni, it's ok to give your opinion and then someone else give theirs. Isn't that what a talk show is about? The guy was more interested in disproving Kathy than defending his own comments. It's the exact same as Kathy saying, 'Actresses earn less money than men all things equal such as hours worked, degree earned, etc' and then the news anchor saying 'I know actresses who make the same as men' and then can't name one. What was your point of countering an argument if you can't bring the facts!

Tamara is trying to stick up for Loni a little and Loni is being sooo rude. Kathy wasn’t wrong. There are a lot less woman in comedy at 55 and above than men. Come on Loni! You’re getting to see loni’s ego hardcore. Lookin a little controlling:( still love you Loni but this side I’m not liking

They need to switch loni’s seat cause it looks like she constantly turns away from Adrienne all the time. Worse when they don’t agree. Don’t think it’s on purpose but it’s like little Adrienne is behind a wall

I love loni but I think that Kathy had a right to speak up and you said we shouldn't be tearing women down but you sort of are by saying how bitter and is and what not. She's not being bitter she's speaking her opinion and she said 58 year old female comics. I agree with Adrienne because you don't come after someone without having any information and all your facts together which was what the guy was doing. And before anyone says I'm bias I don't even watch Kathy that often. I've seen some of her work but I'm not a hardcore fan but Kathy had just the same amount of right to stand up for herself as the anchor does

I’m currently a customer service officer, and Jeannie’s right, when someone is angry and/ or airing out their grievances, usually you let them because they’re upset not at YOU, but their circumstances. So DE-ESCALATE and DON’T TAKE IT PERSONALLY! It’s not about it being “your show”, it’s about them being your GUEST and you HEARING what they have to say... 😓

Ok, so it was the guy's show so he should be able to say whatever he wants. But I do think that if you invite a guest on your show you have to show your respect towards that guest and to cut her off while she was in the middle of making her point is not showing respect. Also, yes there are female comedians out there that are over 50, but the point Kathy was making is that it's a male dominated area, she never said there were none, she was just making it clear that there are far more male comedians than female ones. I think Loni just isn't a fan of Kathy and it clearly showed here.

I’m kind of astounded that the two women comedians at that table (Amanda and Loni) are not at least acknowledging Kathy’s underlying point that the comedy industry IS, in fact, vastly male dominated/controlled. Even for the older female comediennes that are out there, they have to deal with a host of issues that their male counterparts don’t (including notion that they have to be “likeable” to be acceptable). Indeed, Kathy was overly rude but the woman was speaking absolute facts...and anyone trying to contradict by naming THE FEW successful older women comics is missing that point.

I'm sorry but vote of hands in the comments who can really think of any 5+ female comedians doing stand up without Google. Katthy and Chelsea are the only olderish ones I know. Not saying female comedians aren't thriving but thyre not hyped up as often as male ones. Hope Loni and that annoying co-host absorbed some of what Jeannie and Adrienne said.

I have to agree with Adrienne here. Whether Kathy was right or wrong, it comes off as mansplaining when he corrects her on something she believes is true of her field, then when she asks for the facts to back it up, he says it's not his area of expertise. Exactly, it's not, but it's literally Kathy's whole career. So the weird condescending little interjection he had to make was really not it. If he wanted to correct the statement he could've easily waited to the end and mentioned some great female comedians over 50, but I genuinely don't think that was his point, so he didn't have any names handy, did he?
@joeshanahan29194 жыл бұрын
Y’all are MISSING the point. Kathy isn’t saying that women over 50 aren’t successful in comedy. But, name women above 50 that are prominent in the mainstream consciousness of stand up. Sarah Silverman maybe? Men? You could name TONS
@linhhuynh70654 жыл бұрын
Men in that industry is hella disrespectful so I understand what kathy is talking about
@Misslovlii144 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but I don't think the general population could name five thriving comediennes age 50+ right now. I honestly can't even think of one lol. And by thriving, I mean someone who's working, whether that be standup, TV, movies, etc. Kathy may still be angry, but she was right. The only reason Loni could name them is because she's a comedienne herself. And was it just me, or did the anchor cut her off?? I guess you could say he was "paying homage," but it just seemed like he didn't like Kathy to me. Like Adrienne said, he could've just sat there without saying anything lol.

Kathy was not wrong! There are not enough women in comedy, especially older women. Loni says the guy is trying to pay homage, no he isnt. For once loni was wrong on this one. Men are gatekeepers in Hollywood she needs to be paid for her work. She is one of the most hard working female comedians and did charity work and various work for free when everyone else didn’t and she has never gotten paid for it which she was fine with but she works her ass off and if it were a man they would find the money. That’s really her point.

I just also want to point out... whether or not you’re speaking the truth... do it in a way that does not come off a certain way , if Loni was to say it... which she has about opportunities for women of color as well as women of certain ages in the industry... she would come off bitter depending on her DELIVERY ! So I would say... work on th delivery of how you say things , because if you don’t it can be misinterpreted and it will be talked about and people will have certain thoughts whenever u walk into an room thinking if they breath a certain way you’re gonna pop off... so have the free will to speak and say whatever’s on your mind but sometimes the delivery diminishes the message !

I feel like the end of this conversation could be compared to statements such as "well, there have been female candidates for president; you can do it too". Not even taking into account the amount of years it took for that to even be possible. Don't even add how your opportunities in life can be impacted by your economic status environment, etc. I'm all for encouraging women, and speaking the positivity and progression into existence, but sis made a valid point. If female comedians all have the same chances and opportunities, why is someone like Lunell not more popular? Thank you for reading my dissertation. 😊🤸🏾♀️

These past couple episodes of the season your seeing Loni become the “Tamar”. Loni is one of those individuals who think just because they’re loud, they’re correct. She likes to over talk and control the conversation. Jeanie and Adrienne be making legit points, compared to Loni who is talking around in circles and always being” neutral” and passive, or being biased in a debated. Poor Tamera couldn’t even talk!🥴
