Managers only think in terms of overtime and weekend drives. They usually fail to apply correct SDLC and having very low understanding of technical works and try to compensate it with scolding developers . They still believe that PIZZA party improves developer performance. They also believe that Developers do not have any right to have personal life...

Leave is one thing as a subordinate I always took no matter what. It is because I planned them in advance and stuck to my schedule on the pretex that train tickets were booked. As a boss leave is something that I almost always agreed to if applied for well in advance and mostly agreed to if asked for spontaneously so long as someone else could shoulder the responsibility for a brief period. No one was indispensable and everyone had a right to enjoy life. Yearly planning of leave was crucial.
