so the aim is to find a and b, in finding b, we do away with a, we have the expression A(2x-1), to do away with A, We need to put in a value so that we get 1, then 1-1 will be equal to zero, so putting x = 1/2 will be 2(1/2) = 1, then 1-1=0.
