You may think Rorty’s position “denies a mind independent reality” but that would boarder on a misreading. He was fairly clear that there is a world out there it’s our descriptions that aren’t. It’s more along the lines of Sellar’s “all awareness is a linguistic affair” or Putnam’s fact value dichotomy. These are mostly issues that don’t make a difference to practice. An itch that one may not have or more charitably, optional.

Great conversation! It seems Rorty is sometimes making a distinction between Truth and justification and he is clearly going for justification because it has this non-eternal conditional quality to it: Truth means true for all times unconditionally, whereas justified merely means justified until some future better informed audience - with new data, equipment and metaphors- comes along and says that it isn’t. I think pragmatism is the thing to go for because it has this fallibilistic anti-sceptical element that says that doubt requires as much justification as any knowledge claim would
