I think this game was made without pvp purposely because they wanted to make a survival game where people actually had to work together instead of killing each other over a rock. I see what you mean though, there is no way to deal with troublesome people and due to it being a game with no real consequences people will do what they want and act tough. It's a shame most problems can't be solved without some sort of violence.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! *you have to get CREATIVE* they run a business that you don't like because they're dicks to you? be a tryhard(*two kinds, the aggressive elitist"only one way to play and thats my way" and the "I'm just gonna try and get good" Try hard, so the later is what I mean*) and make a BETTER BUSINESS, or just undercut them with prices, sure it might hurt you a bit, but it hurts them more since they get MUCH less profits and sales. someone forget to claim a spot? well I don't know if you can claim ANYWHERE, but if you can when its unclaimed, claim it and make an ugly structure there, either they have to LIVE with it, or pay you to remove if at YOUR prices. or in this servers seeming case, have even "lawyers" and such XD! to the point where you can vote to ban them peacefully. or atleast thats how he described it when someone was stealing at one point. it FORCES you to have to do things in a PACIFIST way, and be either passive aggressive, or just passive, and be better lol.

I'm pretty sure Scythe is the guy who set-up a claim right on top of my place despite the initial server rules to give each other space. By the second day, he had expanded and had left a ton of destruction all around my place. By the third (or fourth? did I even play that long before quitting out of frustration?) day, all of the work I had put into some of the surrounding area to be sustainable for timber and wildlife had ALL been ruined with a huge road cut right through it. Clearly people were putting insane amounts of time into the game that others couldn't hope to match, and they were not at all interested in being friendly. Royal wanted people to "fight" against what they didn't like, but it's a GAME, Royal. We have to fight against such similar BS in real life enough, and I don't blame anyone for not wanting to pick the same fights in their escapism. Additionally, Eco doesn't provide great means of actually fighting against such things. Bottom line for me: I did not have fun. I was looking forward to it. I tried to have fun. I did not have fun. I quit quite early when it became clear how things would go. I didn't sabotage anything or create any drama. I just left.

Really sucks to hear that. This is what I expected to happen throughout the experiment, but I wish Royal at least had some rules and enforced them to protect land ownership, griefing, etc. Big groups like that always ruin the fun.

How can you fight for your position on the server, or in the "experiment", when the group of players that took over the government made it illegal to start a vote... So everyone had to follow the laws and there was nothing anyone could do about it cause that same group of players would not listen or just make it hard for you to play the server, for example, making your currency illegal. This server was a lot of fun till the whole government thing came into play and made a lot of people quit. I am lost as too how you see what the government did was not wrong. I can't speak for you but as the sign suggested it might be because the group that was doing it was not effecting you, in fact they where providing you with higher level game content. The actions the "quitters" took to lag the server by cutting down trees and making a mess was not the right thing to do. But at the end of the day it is what it is and I am sad it went the way it did.

Interesting to see how things went with a large community, I played with my wife and daughter and it took us 4.5 days to destroy the meteorite (which, I might add, was a massive anti-climax, I know it's still in early access but a better ending would be good!!)

I incredible half heartedly play this game here and there so will probably never come close to shooting down the meteorite. Maybe if you shoot it down it should scatter throughout the planet. You could then mine it for new metals and materials that unlock a new tier of building materials and tech or something?

Seems like the large group started running everyone else that didn’t do what they said out of the game. Also appears they were killing off animals, taking land, and deforesting. What I think they forgot is that you need other people to make this game fun. I’m think in the big groups head, they “won.” In the same way a bully wins, then spends the day with no friends.

@@overratedprogrammer, the legal system in this game is pretty robust. One thing you can do with it is pass laws that ignore property ownership or even to allow the government to confiscate your property. It’s mainly used to clean up abandoned property, but like any law it can be abused.

The multiple nations could form a world government. So in this scenario even if those guys formed a government they wouldn’t have had jurisdiction in those other people’s areas.

Craigy yeah that’s true. I’m not sure how they would implement it. However I would imagine tho tribal rules would keep people in check. Basically don’t kill others else everyone will kill you. Until a formal government comes to make rules. Which the people themselves would Inforce with cops. And if somone broke rules the cops will punish them. If too many people disagree with what the government is doing they will over whelm said cops. So I feel as tho pvp could work but if you just respawn immediately the punishment of death wouldn’t be enough to make people scared of it. Which if people aren’t scared of death then it ruins the whole system I’ve described. All I know is for this game to work well they would have to find a way to implement something like this.

Right now each server can only have one active government. The active one is determined by whoever can build the biggest + highest tier capitol room. It sounds like the dictatorship was built by people putting in 12+ hours a day into getting resources for their capitol in order to defeat the resistors who probably couldn't keep up. Most people were probably like PR and didn't care/pay attention to it all though. The game is still being worked on though, and that's not the plan for 1.0. The devs want to have nation-building be a gradual thing (people may form towns, towns may form nations, nations may form global government). That way people can have leverage in the "social PvP" the devs want instead of combat. In this server's case you would probably see the dictatorship, the resistors, and the "big corp" guys PR bought his silo from form the towns/nations that would be "competing" with each other over a longer period instead of having a sudden dictatorship because that was the group that put the most resources into a single room.

If the court system is being built in the castle, shouldn't that have the power to overthrow this government that people dont like so much?
