So far I thought those words are participle form of the verb. And I have always confused. But just now I have learned those are adjectives. Just understood why I have confused. Thanks a lot dear teacher

I would like to know when there are several adjectives in a row, which ones go first or what the rule is on that. Thank you in advance.

Adjective order in English follows a pattern that we call DOSA-SCOMP: Determiner, Opinion, Size, Age, Shape, Color, Origin, Material, and Purpose. So "My favorite big old square white French cotton gardening hat"

Hi Suzuki! Thanks for the suggestion. Learning grammar can be very confusing but I'm here to help!

The sentence you left in your comment is Actually a great example I can use to help you. "I am confused" is the correct form. Why? You are using the past participle of "confuse" after the helping verb "be." You need the confused because you receive that feeling from learning grammar. You can say grammar is "confusing" but not "confused" because grammar isn't a person and doesn't receive the effect of something. Form is "be" + past participle of a verb to describe the stare that a person or thing is in as the result of something else.

The door is closed. It has no feeling but used 'closed' why?

Hi Akash, Great question! A lot of people will say that the "ed" form of a participle adjective, like "I am interested" is used for people while the "ing" form, as in "The movie is interesting " is for things but that definition is too limited. I like to say to think of cause and effect. "ing" present participle is for causes like "The movie is interesting." Here the movie is the CAUSE of the state of being interesting. "Ed" past participle is for effect like "I am interested" so "interested " shows the EFFECT of something on me. For words like "closed" that do not describe people, we should think of cause and effect. "The door is closed" describes the state of the door as the EFFECT of someone closing it. In other words, someone closed the door, so the effect is that the door is closed. I hope that helps.
