Particle Kid, Micah Nelson, Interview with Amy Wright on DittyTV.com, Micah talks about learning to play music at a young age, the formation of "Particle Kid", how he's blended both visual art and music together, how music is like time travel and his new album Time Capsule. Aired August 17th 2022,
Excerpts:
~The most powerful songs are the ones that speak to people, are universal, and come from an honest place within.PK
"Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time." Jean-Michel Basquiat
"Music is an endless well of discovery." PK
~Music is the closest thing we have to time travel. Every work of art, every album that's put out... is a snap shot of that time. When you hear that song you instantly teleport to where/when you heard it. PK
~Lyrics come from a subconscious place, where it feels right, but sometimes you can't describe specifically what i's about. Then, years later, you realize what your art was saying...and it feels a message from your future self. ( you just had to live thru more of your life to understand what you're subconscious was communicating.) Take drawing for example: just draw, don't think. don't try to understand, but over time, you see it differently where my thoughts were a brain sneeze...The meaning was coming out faster than my mind could process it.
~ Words can fail me, I'm so lucky for animations and music which sometimes communicates so much more than just words can..especially when working from a place that's drawing from the subconscious and letting that voice speak without analyzing it. Just throw the clay down, sculpt it later, but don't hinder the process.
Words sure didn't fail PK here as they flowed freely during this articulate and thought provoking conversation with Amy Wright, co founder of Ditty TV.

Micah Nelson. Willy Nelson’s son. Also an artist in his own right. More psychedelic music as opposed to his father.
