this one is really awesome ! so freaking good tutorials man ! when I played the downloaded file of example 4 (kick & beep), the kick didn't play. I then noticed that the file was called Kick.wav but the message object said: kick.wav (lowercase k). I made the change and it worked. I'm understanding more step by step. Keepin' it going !

Fantastic! I don‘t have much time to try out these, but saved the video for future explorations. I feel I might sell my video synthesizer in the not so far future…

You probably should add a (different) priority argument for your individual [gemhead] objects. This way the rendering chains are treated one after the other (and the changes are also applied in sequence).

Definitely, I recommend everyone to go to the help-patcher for [gemhead] to learn more about that. From what I remember, it didn't fix the weird issue that's discussed in the vid but rendering order is still worth looking into.

This is very helpful, thanks! I've been trying to emulate suiteru's work, but I'm struggling to make pd recognise midi notes in my old linux laptop. I think I might end up trying to make particles respond to different frequencies and volumes. I'm really new to pd so this will probably take a while :D Your videos are really entertaining and useful, keep it up!

Thank you so much for watching!! Have you tried the [notein] and [ctlin] objects? The help patcher for [notein] provides more detail! Create [notein] and right-click (?) and you'll see "Help" pop up. Good luck and have fun!!

@@SoundSimulator Thanks! Yes, I’ve been trying to use those. My problem is with pd recognising my midi device.

@@ritofuturito Gotcha. Then it probably needs to be set in the computer itself before the device is recognized in Pure Data. I don't know how MIDI routing works in Linux though. There may be threads on Pure Data forum. Facebook's Pure Data group is very active too!

Do you have a tutorial of how to import external audio? For example, a track created in a DAW and imported to Pure Data to construct visuals?

Hi ! I had a question for you : I can't create a Gem file even by following the instructions to the letter (I'm on the latest version of pure data 0.53-0) Thank for the thanks for the quality content 👌✨

github.com/umlaeute/Gem/issues/257 Here's a forum that I referenced that worked for me and hopefully for you too! It was something along the lines of changing [gemmacoswindow] to [gemglutwindow] and it worked. The clickable error message sent me to where the [gemmacoswindow] was located. GOOD LUCK! If that doesn't work, give Purr Data a chance. And PlugData is working on making a GEM-like feature from what I heard. It may take time but there's hope!

Hey man, I've been learning pd through your channel and you've been such a big help!! I was wondering if you know if it is possible to control pd using multiple external audio tracks at the same time. I've got lots of projects in logic pro that I'd like to use gem to add visuals too but most of it is audio data not midi. Thanks again for making this amazing resource!!!!

That's something I would like to make a video on in the future. In the meantime, there are audio/spectral analysis objects in Pure Data (that I'm forgetting the name of right now) that you can use with your stems!! I haven't done audio analysis visuals in Pure Data, so your guess is good as mine!!
