Excellent Andy! We moved there in May 1959 from Moss Side when I was 9 months old, and I grew up living on Central Road, until we moved on in August 1977. It really was a great place to live back in those days, and I have good memories of my childhood days there. Interestingly, I notice you used one of my photographs of Cadishead Viaduct @ 19:00, taken in 1996. The Cheshire Lines railway was originally opened in 1873, but the Manchester Ship Canal necessitated a higher level line, requiring a new station to replace the lower level one in the early 1890s. The first station was the same as Glazebrook Station and others on the Cheshire Lines Manchester to Liverpool line. The new station, opened in 1893, was demolished in 1970 after the line closed to passenger traffic on the 28th November 1964. Irlam Station was also built to replace an earlier station because of the Manchester Ship Canal, and was identical to Partington Station. In recent years it has undergone a wonderful transformation and shows what could have been done with the beautiful station at Partington.

Spent my childhood/teenage years moved there around 2002/2003 moved away in 2012, went to our lady of lourdes primary school then spent time from 2006-2011 at broadoak highschool, sometimes i still pass through from time to time but it feels strange. Another reason they closed of the bridge was because Cadishead and Partington had this rivarly so there was always fighting between the two sides on top of the bridge. It got so bad they closed it off. Partington when i was growing up was rougher than it is now for sure there was always something happening. It does seem to have calmed down now. i ended up moving from Hampshire Road to Cherry walk overlooking Oak Road Park then to Box walk, So did some moving about in my time there. Good memories there but the bad ones outweighed them so i would never move back. Glad theres somewhat improvments to the place

I was born in Partington. Left when I was about 18 in 1980. Looks like there's been a lot of changes to the place since I left.

Hi Andy. Canal has played a big part in it's transformation. It's looks well catered for regarding facilities for sports. And amenities.. A big parish. Lovd the mosaic. Another brilliant video. Thanks..

The change to Partington in the last 10- 15 years has been stark, barely resembles its past. I lived in Lymm as a kid, a few minutes up the road, but my Mum worked in Partington and during the mid 90s to mid 00's I had swimming lessons and then badminton club at the leisure centre. Many Saturdays spent in Partington and going to the chippy or bakers afterwards that used to be there... some great memories plus a few bad ones... but my word the village used to be so much rougher. The previous main shopping area that was there was rotten and falling down. Those new flats you showed nearby used to be pubs on either side of the road. I only remember them both being boarded up and abandoned, one of them the William IV was burnt down by arson from memory. It definitley earned its deprived tag then but its improvement has been incredible.

Gilmour House is the local housing office for Your Housing Group. However it used to be Millbank Junior School but closed in the mid nineties.

Hi Andy, totally an inappropriate comment section to suggest this, but the smallest church in Lincolnshire? It's in Ruckland south of Louth, not sure if you've covered it but maybe it might be worth considering it.

Agree it isn't the right comment section. That's East Lindsey so no, not been there yet
