Hi Graeme. You are a great bridge expert and analyst

Hi Graciela, thank you for your kind words. Bridge is fun but it makes us all feel like we’re beginners sometimes. Let’s keep playing, learning and enjoying.

Regarding your issue with both the hearts and the clubs, use the rule, Eight ever and Nine never, I.e. with nine cards in a suit that is headed by ace-king, play for the drop.

Wouldn’t bidding Spades show a Reverse?
@Skybridgeclub2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gina, I think that’s hand 7 you’re referring to. That one’s just a matter of context. Because we’ve already found our club fit but East and West have bid 2H then it’s become a competitive auction. Rather than get to game or not, we also have to decide how to avoid giving the contract to East in 2H. North’s 2S gives us the chance to play at the 2 level if my hand is suitable. It’s not entirely clear and bridge bidding can be messy! It is important to look at the whole auction and try and understand what the priorities are. Are we deciding whether or not to bid yo game or are we trying to outbid our opponents?

Thanks for the reply - that is very helpful. I hadn’t thought of it that way!
