I’m surprised 2019 wasn’t on the list or an honorable mention, raw vs smack down vs NXT, it’s not perfect but it’s close with some fantastic triple threats of AJ vs Nakamura vs Roderick, UE vs New Day vs Raiders, the elimination match for both men’s and women’s, and of course the title matches of Brock vs Doink- I mean Rey mysterio, The Fiend vs Daniel Bryan, and Adam Cole vs Pete Dunne, killer from top to bottom

THIS. All the reasons above, and also: this PPV actually had a better build than most when, in typical WWE fashion, original plans got completely binned off and WWE came up with magic. NXT as an unexpected third wheel, simultaneously as a scrappy underdog but also near the peak of its powers made both Survivor Series and the main roster shows leading up to it feel fresh for the first time in years. The 'Invasion' episodes were arguably some of the best and most compelling TV WWE's main roster shows put forth in the decade. You had some great undercard matches, too, as mentioned here. Also: NXT wins the day - apparently you *can* book an invasion angle without making the non-main roster invaders look like total chumps - and RAW comes off worst, starting Seth Rollins's slow descent into madness, which you could argue resulted in the best work of his entire career over the following 3 years.

The Smackdown vs Raw match from 2005 is fantastic. Raw being mostly heels play their heel cards to eliminate captain Batista and put Smackdown at a massive disadvantage, only for Smackdown’s heels to get them back in the match and an amazing babyface comeback from Raw’s HBK before he’s ultimately surprise attacked by Orton and then Undertakers return during the Smackdown celebration. It’s an amazing match.

One of my favorites will forever be 2019, and not just cause I attended it live. I understand it was basically WWE trying push NXT as a main show to compete with AEW despite HHH trying to still call it developmental. However, it had several great matches: Styles v Nakamura v Strong, Fiend v Danielson, Lesnar v Mysterio, the men's 3-way elimination match is chaotic fun with one of the few times I was okay with face Reigns winning a match. Yeah the women's main event was kind of dull but overall it was a well-produced ppv.
