It is underrated do you people know what underrated means? It means he should have 2 million followers and 100,000 likes per video. The stories would be lost to time without people like those who run this channel. I myself am thankful though I like to keep my feet on dry ground, and I will never in my life go on a floating petri dish cruise ship, I love these stories of wrecks and ghost towns and adventure. I love them told civilly eloquently calmly and beautifully so yes, it is very underrated. his comment or her comment was not meant in a rude way. Now, if he said it’s very overrated, then I would join you in making them walk the plank

I met a guy who was Homeless in Catalina (Lived in a run down boat right outside the harbor). He swore he would go diving and find gold and things from OLD shipwrecks and swore he knew of a spot for more, but needed help. @@americansoccerunited Drunks tend to live from day to day. Depending on what year it was, the gold might not have been worth all that much. He didn't say that he found a lot. If you listen to prospectors, a 20 thousand dollar find is thought of as a big find. $20,000 won't set a person up for a year...but a 20 dollar an hour job will. Depending on what the guy needed in the way of help, it may have been a good lead. He did manage to own a "run-down boat" and did live on Catalina...just needed to get sober.

The trick to buried treasure is not telling anyone you found it. For example, a Spanish ship wrecked in a hurricane near Florida. The wreckage was found but the bell went missing. Spain wants the bell. The US government wants to find it for them. I can neither confirm nor deny knowledge of this bell’s whereabouts

The key to finding hidden treasure is to never tell anyone about it. In addition you take as much as you can discretely, and live a humble yet comfortable lifestyle. That's the only way to win as the person who found the treasure; slowly pilfering your find for years until its all gone or someone else finds it.

The Spanish came up as far north as Harrison Lake in B.C. and mined silver there. You could sail up into Harrison off the Fraser river in those days, through a "poulder" hence the name "Pitt Poulder" given by the Dutch who homesteaded and drained the lands in the Pitt Meadows area in 1910, dropped the "hectares" into a numbered company and it's now a golf course. !! 28:23.... Yeah that's why you don't tell a damn soul if you do find something of value. Here (Northern PA) a dirt poor farmer found some buried coins (and China) from the Revolution era in his field while plowing. The state claimed it on him. But they did give him a $100 finders fee. lol. Rumors are he found stuff after that but didn't report it. Can't say I can blame him. Let it be a lesson. Don't report anything to the government unless you want it stolen.

Brilliant video as always! But one I find one thing rather odd. Upon finding out that the hold of the captured Spanish ship was empty, surely Sir Francis Drake must have drawn the conclusion that the crew of said galleon hid the treasure. So, couldn‘t he have forced the crew of the galleon to reveal the whereabouts of the treasure? If so, the treasure should have been transported to England, right?

21:40 you won't be able to "call" them? Was that marine VHF radio at 23:56 broken 🤔or did they just not have a 2nd handheld radio handy on board? For a boat that size it's well worth the $60~ having a 'waterproof' marine band walkie or two on board for ship 2 shore comms even for just during the mooring process. They can work up to around 8 miles range on flat ocean/terrain (curvature of the earth!) and so long as you're not tucked down in a canyon and have some relative "line of sight" between.
