I was at a garage sale once and they had screenshotted eBay prices and printed them out on their items. Wasn’t even sold comps 😂 they took the highest priced listing and used that number to price their items “slightly” below eBay prices LMAOOO… I make Reselling videos too if anyone is interested :)

I've been to garage sales like that!! I told one woman that she should start selling on ebay since she had gone to all that trouble of printing out unsold ebay items!! Usually those garage sales to not do well and people wind up scratching their heads wondering why!!

Whenever someone says well it's $80 on eBay. I always return the favor and say well... make sure to take out 10% for fees and your shipping... so if your charging $80 you are actually way over price 😅😂

Love how everyone wants to sell for eBay or Amazon prices but don't account for the cost of shipping, supplies, the platforms cut, time and effort. Like okay, you have a small first class eligible item selling for $12+free shipping on eBay. Subtract $5 to ship it and another $2 for platform/payment processing fees, plus possibly another $2 on supplies if you're not recycling boxes or you haven't ordered in bulk. Your $12 item is now $3 and then you have to take the effort to photograph, list, pack, print and at least drop it in your mailbox. Oh and if you do that too many times in a year, the tax man is gonna send you a 1099-K you have to deal with. You can't ignore it, even if it's your childhood items that you haven't made a profit on, so it's another headache come tax time. Just sell your ten "$12 on eBay" items for $2 each in a single transaction and move on. You're not a reseller. You clearly don't want to become one. So don't expect reseller profits.

People who don't resell will never believe this , and always think you're some big shot land developer trying to push people out of their homes. Like geez I'm trying to make a few bucks like you, not become Jeff bezos. I try to stay away from these 10-15 dollar items. 1-5 dollar items I can list for around 30 PLUS Shipping (typically $5/9). And then send offers up to 10% off . This is what works for me . Older tools is what I like to sell so it works for tools , in other categories this model way not work.

@@michael2943 I'll find myself occasionally buying cheap stuff as a bulk buy if it gets me to a better price. Recently bought 56 board games for $75 because the guy wanted em all gone in one shot and there were 9 games selling for over $50 each and one of them for over $100. Most of these board games will sell for $5-20+ship, so it's a bit of extra work. Might keep some for a garage sale and sell em for a buck or 50 cents. Some I might part out pieces for.

It's getting ridiculous. It's a few days into spring so basically still winter where I'm at so no garage sales so I've been going to thrift stores like salvation army and they are charging dang near ebay prices on stuff and I'm like you guys get this stuff for free. Then I was in there I think on a Sunday and they were taking all the clothes off the hangers I'm guessing the ones that sat for a week or however long to make room for new inventory and I'm thinking maybe instead of charging $10 for a t shirt charge a $1 or $2 in sure there was shirts in there that people wanted but didn't want to pay those ridiculous prices and now you have to throw it away or I'm guessing send it over seas.

@@livinglife4309 not defending thrift stores, they do get the items for free but have to pay rent, ac/heat, salaries, gas on vehicles if they pick up donations, or deliver donation trailers. Some of the bigger thrift stores like goodwill and chkd donate a portion of their profit to use the name or maintain a good outlook with the community. They also spend a hellacious amount of money on trash disposal for the rejected stuff that people donate, and or leave behind.
